In a word — despite the aggressive marketing, a decent Indian place that offers good food for a fair price. Longer version(for the brave) — finding food in Kowloon for me was(and is) always a challenge. So we got off at the ladies market and looks for food when we bumped into this place, it was pretty packed with locals, Indians and other tourists, so we thought it would be a good call to walk in. At first we shared a table with other people but shortly after were moved to our own table which was nicer indeed. The service is pretty good, they’ve answered my questions with a lot of patience– we’ve ordered some starters and a dish for each person. So in the starters section — the onion bahji and veggie samosas were amazing. I really loved the taste of it and was also served with some chutney. Highly recommended! For the main dish I had a chicken vindaloo, it was well made and a pretty decent dish. Also ordered yellow rice that was well seasoned and rich in flavor, with some vindaloo sauce on top it was quite a feast. We could barely finish the food even though we were super hungry, and the overall price was really fair. Despite the shady location, happy we took that chance and walked in, you should give it a try :)

I like Indian good, I really like it so whenever I see a new restaurant that’s affordable I make it my mission to try it out. Miss India was not hard to find, not with their staff member shouting at the top of his lungs in the ladies market to come and taste the best Indian food in Hong Kong! At the time I lived in the area so I jumped at the opportunity. Inside the restaurant there is a homely, kitchen feel. Wooden benches, and a sourly manager. Some people may find it intimidating but I think it rather adds a certain charm. When I do find annoying, however, is that they continuously ‘forget’ to give me the set-lunch menu. I’ve been four times now and each time I need to ask, or simply grab, for the menu. I’m not sure if it’s just laziness or they think I’m a tourist and they’re hoping to get a little bit more cash. That aside the lunch menu provides a good selection of curries with naan. I normally go for the chicken curry which comes with a little soup, some rice(naan for a bit extra), and a soft drink. There have been times, when I’ve felt adventurous, that I’ve ordered samosas, off the lunch menu, and I have not been disappointed yet. It does take a little bit of skill to eat as the wooden chairs are set so close together that any other patrons or waiters need to squeeze passed, and do squeeze passed every opportunity they get it seems. White shirts beware! For $ 60 the food is good and because of the fact that I know a lunch menu exists I’ll go back again. I won’t travel for more than ten minutes to get there, however, if I’m in the area I’ll definitely pay it a visit.
