The Hong Kong Coliseum is well known as 紅館 by people in Hong Kong. Although it is called a coliseum, its most popular usage is actually to host large scale music concerts. This is basically the holy grail concert location for local artists. It was one of their ultimate goals to host a concert here before technology enables them to hack oversea markets! I have been to many concert locations in town but this is definitely the best to visit. The site is very spacious being able to host over 10 thousands audiences with quality audio-visual equipments. It is conveniently located near the MTR station. The most interesting scene is probably the combination of audiences and glowing sticks hawkers crowding around the place before concerts of popular stars: D Most importantly, every time I came here, I am expecting a great night of music experiences and the performances had never let me down! I went to the Twins 2015 – 2016LOL Live in Hong Kong concert several days ago. Twins was the most popular canton pop girls duo in Hong Kong when I was small. The girls might not be the best in singing but their performance were definitely able to recall our childhood(or youth) memories! If you are into Hong Kong pop music(or other music concerts), you come here in 紅館!

this is a great venue for concerts with the seating all around and the stage in the center. i went to Jacky Cheung’s concert here way back in 1995 opening night and sat in the 2nd row. really amazing experience. would love to go back for another concert.

The Hong Kong Coliseum is THE place for artists to have their concerts. It’s every Hong Kong’s artist’s dream to be at 紅館(the shortened name of the Coliseum in Chinese). You can tell that this coliseum has hosted many concerts by its wear and tear. It’s not run down or anything, just not shiny and new. I think it gives it character. It is conveniently located right above the Hung Hom MTR station which is the end station for both the east rail and west rail lines. It is also a major stop for many many bus lines. Because there is a cross harbor tunnel here also, the traffic is generally horrendous though. Overall, the coliseum is great for watching concerts!

Hong Kong Coliseum is probably the big daddy of public arenas in the SAR, in the days before HKCEC and Asiaexpo– this was probably the only place you could go to if you were hoping to hold a public concert or event. Pop stars would levy their success on whether they could have a concert here– and for how long. To describe the building you would only need one word: ugly. This monstrosity of a thing sits on the Hung Hom Station podium and blocks out the view of the harbor completely. It would be alright if it were an architectural marvel but no, it just looks like someone turned a pizza box over with the lid split on four sides. The design is necessary for one thing though– this is one of the few places here the stage is open on all four sides which makes it a great location for concerts and performing arts. You won’t be dancing anytime soon though as this is a seated arena. Once inside, you will start to realize that this pizza box is big– I’m not sure how many people it seats but I can tell you that it is not short of space. The impossibly steep gradient also makes it quite daunting to climb up the cheap seats«up the hill». There are little or no facilities here as there is the station and mall just right next to it. Given its popularity with pop stars you will have no choice but to come and meet the stars– this beats having to go all the way into Asiaexpo I guess. Did I mention that this place was intended for sporting events? Just look at the state of our sports sector…
