If you need to furnish your home, HomeSquare — all six stories of it — has got you covered. Situated in Sha Tin Central, it is no doubt a little out of the way, but the good news is that HomeSquare is only a few minutes’ walk from the Sha Tin MTR station.
Whether it’s a bed, lighting or patio furniture you need, you can find it all here. Creative Co-​op on the ground floor is one of my favorites — everything’s got a rustic, vintage-​y vibe to it, and you can find anything from an armchair to a wall hook. It’s very affordable too. Laura Ashley, next to Creative Co-​op, is more floral and feminine, and also more expensive, but it’s sure to please any lady.
The stores on the second to fourth floor are what I call more ‘serious business’. Here, you can find lots of furniture, whether for your living room or for your bedroom. I would say that most of the stores have a more modern take, but Dynasty Home on the second floor specializes in furniture inspired by traditional Chinese themes. Think redwood dressers with Chinese symbols and dining tables and chairs made from the finest of craftsmanship. If you like these kind of ancient China themes, you would love this store!
And of course, the huge IKEA that commands the fifth and sixth floor can’t go unsaid. The stuff is well designed and affordable, and there are plenty of little showrooms that you can take as inspiration too. There’s also an IKEA café if you’re looking to get a quick lunch before continuing with your furniture shopping. Note that it gets pretty crowded, even on weekdays, so it can be hard to find a table when lunchtime rolls around.
HomeSquare is definitely worth a visit if you’ve just moved into a new apartment and need new furniture. You can seriously get anything here — even a piano, as there’s a Tom Lee too! And if HomeSquare wasn’t wonderful enough already, there is a spacious Pacific Coffee too if you need a mid-​day coffee break!
