Last night was the fourth time I had been to Himalaya, a Nepalese and Indian restaurant in the heart of Wan Chai and I can confirmed is one of my favorite places in Wan Chai. I have always been there for dinner, but they also have lunch time buffet(for 90HKD!) which is probably the best value for money you can get around this area. The place isn’t really fancy; it’s a wide open space with a ton of tables — pick the ones close to the window; they don’t have tables for two. In fact, they’re big enough to accommodate for 5 people and, what’s more important, for the procession of dishes that you may end up ordering. They have a delivery menu that you can check online and a la carte menu, which is the one I know, and I can almost recite from memory. From what I’ve tried I would highly recommend any of their chicken dishes(especially Makhani, Korma or Vindaloo). They normally come as mildly spicy and you should ask them to spice your dish up or down. The chicken meat always comes very tender and flavorsome(I haven’t experienced the same thing with mutton for example). As a starter, you can’t miss the Saag Paneer. It may be a little pricey for an appetizer or side dish(around 70HKD) but it is absolutely worth it. It’s the best one I’ve tried so far. A dinner for two can cost around 250HKD, service charge included(but not drinks) which is a pretty good deal!
