If you are a poor college student wanting to eat some dimsum, then look no further, Dimdimsum has pretty decent dimsum for a pretty cheap price! Me and my exchange student friends came here all the time for dimsum! There’s usually no queue either compared to all the other places in the mall. The shrimps dumplings, shumai, and egg custard bun are must gets! I think my friend and I probably ordered a table full for about 100hkd each and it was a lot of food!

We went to Dimdimsum DimSum specifically for their steamed egg custard buns(which they call Piggy Buns). We had read that this store had good custard buns from a blog, and decided to give it a try! We(a group of 4) arrived around 8:30pm at night and split 7 dishes between us. We ordered: Piggy buns — aka Egg Yolk Custard Buns. The yolk inside was a bit gritty, and the flavor is very rich. Try it if you haven’t before! And the buns come in a cute pig shape as well! Rice flour roll with beef/BBQ pork — the rice roll was very thick, which took away from the inside flavor of the meat. I liked to add A LOT of soy sauce on this one. BBQ Pork buns– with the traditional kind of bread Steamed shrimp dumplings — Pricier than most places. It cost $ 30HKD here, whereas most places are ~$ 20. All the dishes came out very hot, so we knew it was fresh! Great meal.

We came here because my fiancé’s dad really likes it and its convenient location to where we were staying. It was my first time here though. We tried the soup dumplings with black truffle, crispy rice flour rolls, stuffed eggplant, bbq buns and some other thing. The xlb with black truffle was great, but everything else was pretty tasty although not amazing. However, we got an extra dish by accident. We do not know what the dishes are meant to look like. We were confused thinking maybe those were the soup dumplings. Then, the lady told something in chinese to the waiter(which we did not understand), and then they gave us the soup dumplings. Now, my issue is that they charged us for that dish we didn’t order. I don’t know in Hong Kong, but in the US, if a restaurant makes a mistake, they own up to it… good restaurants at least.

Do you know that the literal meaning for Dim Sum is actually«to touch your heart»? I have to bring it up as today I went to a place called«Dimdimsum Dim Sum Specialty Store»… so what does that mean now? To touch you by touching your heart? Honestly, its English name is just hilarious. There have been quite a few of stores in Hong Kong that specialize in serving dim sum but there hasn’t been much that actually live up to my expectation. When I had a look at the menu I was rather surprised about it in terms of the price. It ranges from HKD$ 20 to HKD$ 40 per dish.(especially the shrimp dumplings — normally it is around maybe 20 dollars but 30 dollars here.) But it will not be a dim sum meal without having shrimp dumplings so I ordered it anyway. I like that they only cook it once you place your order so all dim sums are freshly made. After a while my dumplings got served and they were steaming HOT! I had to let it «breath» and cool down a bit. Then I picked up my chopsticks and check out the wrapping, which was fairly thin but it has rather big shrimp in it. It tasted very nice and the skin was not too chewy or too thick. I also tried the Chives and Shrimp cake and the aroma of chives did bring out the taste of the shrimp as well. Thus, my recommendation would be try the SHRIMP dishes. Overall I was rather pleased with this place and I will come again.

I went to Dimdimsum Dimsum(what a mouthful!) for the first time today and I think I just found one of my favorite places to have dimsum. We arrived at around 1:45 and the restaurant was packed. We got a number and while waiting, I read the English menu that was displayed outside, mentally deciding what to order. In less than five minutes, we were given a table. We ordered six dishes to share between two people. We waited a little over ten or fifteen minutes before our first dimsum arrived and I was instantly impressed. It wasn’t my first time having rice floor rolls with shrimp of course — that’s a standard dimsum dish, but it was my first time trying it crispy. The rolls themselves aren’t fried, but what makes it crispy is the fried bits that’s stuffed between the rolls. They’re sort of like the crispy skin you would find around spring rolls. It added a really nice crunch to this traditional dimsum and I would say this was my favorite of all the dishes we ordered. I wasn’t disappointed by any of the things we ordered, really. My favorite dimsum of all time is shrimp dumplings, and the ones here were actually quite large and the shrimp was very tender. I also really liked the Thai style chives and shrimp cake — it was slightly crispy and the cake was really fragrant! The xiao long bao was good but not great because I felt that the skin was a little too thick. Overall, I really liked the food here and I’ll definitely be back. However, the environment of the restaurant isn’t fantastic because the chairs and tables are placed very close to each other so it was kind of cramped. I could see others struggling to get in and out of their seats(especially those who sat on the inside, against the wall) and I felt the waiters brushing against me when bringing over the food. The chairs and tables on the other side of the restaurant are arranged much more spaciously though. I recommend Dimdimsum Dimsum to anyone who’s looking for an affordable, delicious dimsum fix! 46. 759
