A La Turka

Unassuming looking place but the quality of the food is quite good. Tried the Izmir kebab and beef doner roll.
The former comes with rice and a wonderful sauce that is light yet very rich. The portion looks a little small on the plate but it’s decently sized — would be helped by improving the presentation a bit.
The doner roll is a very good deal ($ 51 at lunch with a tea) and quite filling. Was quite happy with it but would have been even happier if they had a spicy sauce for it. Mint is the best option at the moment and it would have been great if it had more of a kick. Also tried the soup of the day which was a very flavourful and did have a nice red pepper kick in it.
The décor is a bit odd, they kept the blue and purple walls from the ice cream place that previously occupied the space and added a collection of photos. Some downloaded from the Internet and highly pixelated, others are old family photos. And there’s one poster on the bathroom door which borders on the depressing. The tables and chairs are a bit of a squeeze to get in and out so be ready to move slow or bash your knees.
But all that said the food is great, a welcome addition after the other Turkish and Middle Eastern places in the area have declined in recent years.
