This was my favorite restaurant in Vieques. Beautiful atmosphere coupled with great food made for a wonderful evening. However, last night when I went I was very disappointed. My food was great but the service was not. Our bill was around $ 300 and there was 4 of us so we very politely asked if we could have our bill split. The waitress handed us a pen and told us to split the check ourselves. After we spent a few minutes trying to figure out how exactly to split it we walked up to the bar to ask if she could do it for us. It took her around 15 minutes. So disappointing as I use to love this restaurant so much.

So many people raved about Next Course, but sadly I was left very disappointed. The service was poor, never checked up on us-no food recommendations-rolled his eyes when we asked what wine paired well with the lobster we order(he goes«ugh I’ll go ask but whatever you get will be fine») THEFOODLACKEDSEASONING! The octopus was chewy and bland. The beet salad had 3 beets on the plate with plenty of lettuce. Very plain, and was underwhelming. The lobster and risotto which I was super excited about had no flavor, the lobster was soft like a «mushy» soft texture on some parts and others were rubbery which clearly was not properly cooked. the risotto was very watery and had no flavor. I hope it was just an off night, but I was really really not happy with the meal. We got our check and went to Tin Box down the road for a better experience.

As a final meal in Vieques, it was a great end to a very eventful trip. Next Course was spoken highly from one of the locals and when arriving, my friends and I thought the restaurant was super cute, with strings of lights hung outside on their patio. We had a group of 14 so we sat inside, which was fine as the inside was clean and wonderfully decorated as well. The service was nice and quick in serving us our drinks and food. My friends and I first shared the truffle duck liver pâté. It was absolutely delicious. The bread was nicely toasted, a great vehicle for the creamy pâté. Delicious. The truffle was a great accent to the liver, smooth and easy to spread on the crisp bread. There was plenty to share between 4 people. As for my main entrée, I got the GIGANTIC pork chop. It was GIGANTIC. The pork chop was very well seasoned, super tender and moist on the inside which I found to be impressive for such a thick piece of meat. The mashed sweet potatoes was the perfect complement with the pork and the Brussel sprouts were cooked down nicely. I’ve also tried their mushroom pizza which was also big in portion and covered in cheese. As a mushroom and cheese fan, it was very good although I would advise splitting with another entrée as the cheese could be quite heavy for a single meal. As for the desserts, we all shared various plates including the chocolate cheese cake and pecan pie. Everything was well made, sweet and yummy. Overall, a splendid meal. Definitely worth a try if looking for a more intimate and formal setting in Vieques.

Food was great. One of the best meals we have had — in the states or outside — in a long time. Pork belly and pâté were great appetizers. Disappointed that the ice cream sandwich wasn’t on the dessert menu(we had been looking forward to that all day) but the rum cake was very good. Pork chop entrée was huge and lobster risotto was some of the best risotto I have ever had(not to downplay the poached lobster that the risotto came with but I could have eaten just the risotto as an entrée). Don’t miss this gem.

The food is amazing. We had the shrimp ceviche and the Diver scallops is a must have. I will come again if I ever make it back to Vieques. -

This place is amazing. We started the meal with a bright, tasty crudo, followed by the hands down most mind blowing pork belly either of us had ever had! The pork is beyond tender and juicy and perfectly paired with a mustard aoili and sour pickle slice. The truffle duck pâté is delightfully light and full of flavor and well complimented by the fig jam it is served with. It’s also a respectable portion size with just the right number of crispy grilled bread slices! We also loved the grilled pizza with wild mushroom which is served with a bed a lemony and refreshing arugula. To top it off, the service was great and the atmosphere warm and ethereal, filled with tons of small white string lights. The whole experiance evokes the magic of Vieques!

Get the pork chop. Good ambience from the Christmas lights and old trees. Didn’t try the pâté. Service excellent.

We stopped in for dinner on a week night. The food here was phenomenal — the best we’ve had on the island. We shared cocktails, lobster risotto, and pork chop. I was nervous ordering pork chop on the island… it just seemed odd to order pork in a place surrounded by water but i wasn’t disappointed. The lobster risotto was also fantastic — the lobster was melt in your mouth tender without being overly salty. This is definitely a Vieques«must do». We’ll be back again!

So don’t get me wrong, the food here is not bad. And therefore it’s not a tourist trap… but the crowd and ambiance left much to be desired. It somehow felt like Vermont… in freaking Puerto Rico. Myself and two hot girlfriends found ourselves here driven by the rave reviews on Unilocal. Food-wise, we weren’t disappointed. We had: –crudo: local cobia fish over bed of rice nigiri-style with roe. Very yummy sweet soy glaze –wasabi-dusted octopus: this was kind of a joke. It was such a tiny portion and the portions here were pretty big. Even our wine glass was huge. Not sure why this dish is teeny tiny. –duck pâté with fig and bread: really good. Could have eaten this all day –scallops: well-cooked but slightly too salty –pork chop: my friends shared this. It was very well-cooked and well-seasoned. The accompanying Brussel sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. A lot of love went into it. They did a very good job with it.

We loved the food here and the atmosphere. We sat on their porch which was beautiful and filled with twinkling lights. We had the pâté, the scallops, the beet salad and we shared the catch of the day. The scallops were amazing — don’t pass these up! They are so much fresher than any scallops we have ever had. The bacon bits and truffle oil that is served with them makes them even better. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgable. I am giving this a 4 star only because the price was a little outrageous, even for fresh fish etc. but the food is very good.

This is the best restaurant on the island of Vieques. Have spent two week-long NYE vacations down here, and have eaten at Next Course multiple times. The food is exquisite; an ever changing roster of delectable specials coupled with an astoundingly delicious base menu. The staff are awesome; knowledgeable and friendly and always bringing a spark to the table with every visit. If you eat and enjoy food, and you come to Vieques, and you do not dine here, you have failed on your vacation.

Delicious food. I think it’s perhaps the most high end on the island. We loved the steak and risotto lobster

Everything about our visit to Next Course(in keeping with our whole trip to Vieques as a whole) was wonderful. We sat on the covered deck/balcony, which was very pleasant with a great breeze. Some of the(few) negative reviews keep mentioning that it’s «far away» and«in the middle of nowhere.» It was less than a 10 minute drive from Esperanza and easy to find. They have a parking lot and I saw many people being picked up/dropped off my taxi. Not sure why this is such an issue for some… My husband had the«life-changing» pork chop and was very pleased(although maybe not life-changed…) It is massive, a double-cut chop. He felt it was cooked very well, which seems to be hard to do with a big chop like that in many restaurants. I had wine-braised short ribs which were rich, decadent, and quite filling. Enjoyed our wine choices as well.

Everything about this place was spectacular. The ambiance, people, food and drinks. Our order Wasabi coated Octopus — 5 stars. For people who don’t like the slimy texture of octopus, give this a try. Catch of the day– the day we went it was Cobia. The waitress was really nice in explained how it tasted and the texture of the fish. This was pan seared with creamed potatoes and spinach. Ah, o could eat it even now(It is 6 in the morning ;)) Pizza — good and unique Dessert — dark chocolate cheese cake with marshmallow icing. Very smooth and rich. Drinks — dirty martini and ginger a peach. Ginger a peach was my favorite. Give it a try and I am sure you will love it. One of the best restaurant we have tried in vieques and will definitely go back if we are in the island. Don’t forget to buy beer for the kitchen. I am sure you would after experiencing this food.

My husband and I ate here our first night on the island, and it was a quick taxi from the W hotel. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant; the balcony/terrace/patio area was very nice, as was the interior. I am glad we went here as it was an easy place for the first night, but I would not go back. Although this restaurant has great food, it’s too similar to what we can get in any big city, with just a slight Caribbean twist. Service was lovely, as it was across the island. The food/libations: 1. Cocktails were pretty good; wine list was a bit tired/overpriced, but I am sure it’s costly to get imports to the island 2. Ceviche appetizer was OK; I found the fish oddly a bit dry 3. I had the frutti di mare special as my main course; the broth the fish/shellfish came in was fantastic. I definitely enjoyed this dish 4. Husband had the pork chop; it was very well seasoned, however a bit dry, which really kills it for a pork chop. Sides were interesting and fun All in, it’s probably a good choice for New American/Continental dining on the island.

.It was a wonderful place to eat, the food is wonderful. It’s also kid friendly which was also great because most places only serve chicken fingers.

What a great dining experience! Charming service and vibe touched off the night but it just kept getting better every course, from the special ceviche with fresh ginger and infused grapefruit, followed by two delicious salads — crab fennel and the beet salad then our main courses dishes of lobster with risotto and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto(great presentation) and my husband’s special 12 oz pork chop. HUGE! If that wasn’t enough we topped it off with the chocolate mousse dessert! Off the charts all around!!! Highly highly recommend this gem! A special bonus was the most darling couple who just got married today that were sitting next to us… congrats and big shout out to Hector and Susan!

Possibly our best meal on the entire island. Setting and ambiance are upscale and comfortable with great long views down towards Isabel Segundo and the ocean. Inside space is open airy, but there is also outside seating. We started off the meal with a few appetizers. Everyone said to get the bacon-wrapped dates, and for good reason! The bacon was cooked perfectly and accompanied the dates very well. We also shared a large, fresh spinach salad with a wonderful dressing. For main courses we had two great choices… a wood-fired pizza and a lobster dish. The pizza was a combination of mushrooms, onions and fresh spinach leaves, we could not get enough of this pie and its bursting flavors and charred crust. My wife had the lobster tail stuffed with risotto and we had to pry away her fork to get a taste. Man, was that dish outstanding! We were able to somehow leave a little bit of room for dessert, so we shared a chocolate /white-chocolate mousse for dessert… there was not a fleck left over. Certainly a more pricey meal(by this island’s standards), but well worth the investment… great service, great views and incredible food. glad we gave this place a try.
