Had an amazing seafood dinner here with my girlfriend. Service was great(hey replaced a drink I didn’t like) and the dishes were creative and very fresh. GF had an amazing grouper in lemon butter sauce, that was some of he freshest fish I’ve had, and I had some excellent spicy chicken dish and octopus. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I ate here our first night in town and it did not disappoint! Our waitress recommended an amazing appetizer with shrimp. For entrees I ordered a grouper fish special and my boyfriend ordered a pork dish. Both dishes were great! The best thing about our dining experience was our waitress, she was great at explaining things and she even gave us recommendations on night life on the area. We will definitely return.

I came here 2 years ago and was blown away by the food! Now that I remembered the name and got on Unilocal to rave about the food, here I go. I had the ceviche trio that was grouper and so fresh and delicious, served with taro chips, I had it both times we went there! My daughter ordered the gnocchi that was made from bread fruit, a local fruit. It had the starchy but soft texture of a potato gnocchi and the sauce was a cream sauce. So good I almost ate all of my daughters. We drank Mojitos and enjoyed talking with the owner. She was very sweet and we let her know she was doing a great job. This wasnt right smack dab in the middle of downtown San Juan either, 5 mins west in more of the local area. We could walk from our apartment so it was perfect. Also just a couple blocks from the beach. Pure heaven!

This is a fun little restaurant in the Ocean Beach area. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. If you want to try local Caribbean food try Bagua. You won’t be disappointed. Also the margaritas are delicious too

We went here for dinner our last night in Puerto Rico. We did not have a reservation and they were busy but still very accommodating and the waitress and the woman running the place were so kind. Due to the large tables upstairs the food took a bit longer than most would tolerate but being from New Orleans I adore a lingering dinner. The food was the best dinner I had the whole trip. The gnocchi with a garlic cream sauce was my daughter’s favor(I am currently trying to replicate it right now). I had the Chillo Frito and was very impressed, nice spices, cooked well and the presentation was perfect.

Un lugar pequeño el menu no es muy amplio pero la comida es buena. Buen servicio… las croquetas de ceviche son muy buenas.

Indeed, as good as it gets. Thank you Unilocaler for helping me find a fabulous seafood joint away from the tourists areas. Me and a pair of rowdy friends were on a journey to find some treats that came from the sea. Good reviews led us to this establishment where we were greeted by super friendly staff. They even showed us the rooftop garden, then proceeded to make reeally great cocktails and other tasty concoctions. Half of our bill was in drinks, and we were heard loud and clear as we waited for our food. On to the food, we split a few entrees. I had a very nice piece of grouper in a creole sauce. My friends ceviche was the highlight. Never had octopus so tender like this, melted like butter. Everything I tasted was delicious, a bit on the salty side, but no complaints for flovor. I hate leaving a restaurant with an empty wallet and mediocre food, and this was NOT one of those spots. This was the foody highlight of San Juan!

Thanks to previous reviews here and then a visit to Bagua’s website, we were convinced that it was going to be our restaurant for a casual, light fare dinner… and we were not wrong. On a hidden side street, this isn’t a restaurant a tourist would find without a recommendation. It’s tiny with a chill vibe(beach shack — menus are in the shape of surf boards). We arrived around 8pm on a Thursday night. We had no reservations and were greeted warmly and seated immediately. We had some questions about items on the menu and our server, Stephanie, not only helpfully answered them all, but she added to our ordering quandary but telling us about all kinds of off-menu specials! It was actually a fun game because everything sounded so good. We ordered some appetizers. Off the menu we had the chicken dip which was a unique tasting blend of shredded chicken in peanuts & parmesan cheese with homemade thin-sliced root chips — weird enough to be delicious — and the special«taco,» raw ahi tuna cubes served in fried wanton skin wraps with Asian flavors and some julienned vegetables. To die for! Our intermezzo was Stephanie’s unique fresh coconut-ginger-lime martini. This could actually have been dessert it was so thick and yummy! Rather than gorge ourselves, we decided to go light and order a third appetizer as our main course. We ordered the house version of fish & chips, which is really long strips of grouper coated with crushed pork rinds and lightly fried. The chips were thin sliced potatoes, served with 2 flavored dipping sauces. «The best freakin’ thing in the world.» For dessert we shared an amaretto crêpe with mascerated strawberries and garnished with small dollops of hazelnut butter and deep berry compote. A perfect ending! Graced, too, by stalks of house-grown aloe, shots of Cuban rum, & other eatery suggestions from Stephanie, who took the time to write everything down for us, and by conversation with the gregarious and attentive proprietor, Bernice, we could really find no fault with this«total dining experience.» Stellar! 5 thumbs up!!!

This restaurant is AWESOME! It’s located in Ocean Park and has an adorable interior with bar and table seating. The owner is an extraordinarily interesting woman to talk to, and that alone is worth the visit. We tried their mofongo that was mixed with sweet plantains, and I believe yucca and topped with some kind of cream of glory. LOVEDIT. The next thing we tried was quesadillas that were filled with a mixture of pulled pork spiced with some kind of happiness, sweet plantains, and a tasty cheese. These were ridiculous and amazing. And finally, we had some sort of meatball thing topped with avocado and lying on a bed of sauce. I don’t know what the hell these things were, but again, LOVEDIT. I highly recommend a trip here when you’re in Puerto Rico. So amazing!

This is a cool little place, with a very calm vibe. We were seated immediately, and the service remained consistently good throughout our lunch. The owner/manager, not sure which she was, came over to check on us, and gave us her recommendations of what to eat, and also gave us tips and suggestions of what we should do during our visit. I got the feeling that she really loves what she does and is very passionate about her business. I ended up ordering the media luna sandwich, which came with greens on the side. The portion was perfect for me, and at a price of $ 10, I can’t complain. The lightly toasted egg bun was my favorite part. My friend had the lobster risotto, which was a bit pricier but reasonable for $ 28. It was heavy on the salt, but a decent pick overall. My favorite thing about this place is how casual it is. It’s totally relaxed, but you can get some good quality food here. There are some higher end options on the menu, so everyone can find something. The table next to us ordered the grilled octopus, and it smelled divine. I don’t even like octopus, but I almost considered ordering it. Overall, this was a good pick for us.

Just when you think you have tasted the fine Puerto Rico foods. shadowed by another restaurant to a larger scale; this restaurant thrives on seafood at its best. The service was impeccable, drinks were on point, and the food what is best described as orgasm in your mouth. Ask what is the special off the menu; tonight was Grouper w a sweet lemon/lime sauce served on tarot root veg mash w hints of coconut. The dish was savory to the end. If I was at home, I may have picked up the plate and licked it clean. Look for this casual but fine food in Puerto Rico, you will not be disappointed.
