Sushi(princess roll) was yum! Lots of choices too. I also learned thinly sliced lime is perfectly placed with sushi. Service was excellent too.

They sat us literally inches from the speaker when there was to be a live band. It was too loud to even think. They could have sat us anywhere in the near empty dining room. We would have asked to be reseated but the waiter didn’t come back for 20 minutes. We ordered calamari but they brought us the fried fish filet appetizer. It was tasty but it was NOT calamari. Then the waiter insisted that it was calamari. I don’t know of a calamari that flakes like fish… but clearly the waiter knew better. He was very inattentive. Also, the pricing: it was high for what you get. 2 appetizers, 3 entrees for $ 70+. If it weren’t across from fast food and a Walgreen’s, maybe they could charge the prices they do. Ridiculous. It’s a sushi bar. Why are they selling mofongo?

Yum’s the word. The sushi and cuisine here is great. I ordered the shrimp tempura with mofongo, and it was delicious. Friends of mine ordered sushi and it was prepared really well. I believe that the owner is Japanese, and he takes great care in making sure that the plates come out nicely. The service was also great. Our server was friendly and made suggestions, and he was attentive. They had live flamenco music on the night we were there, and it was absolutely wonderful. If you’re near Manati or visiting the area, make sure you check this place out.

I had the Manati Roll. I asked for smoked salmon instead of fresh salmon. Oh my God this is delicious. It has Salmon tempura, cream cheese, mango!!, spicy crab, guava sauce, honey and eel sauce. The combination of flavors is incredible. My server Bruce is awesome!!! Definitely returning.

We went here craving some sashimi, not really expecting to be wowed but were blown away. The tuna sashimi was one of the best we have had in a loooonnngg time and we have had a ton of it in almost every major city we’ve lived in, including SF and Sydney. The service was outstanding as well, very down to earth vibe, very knowledgable, just really nice ppl. We’ve been here about 6 times already and look forward to many more visits in the future.

We have been sitting waiting for 20 minutes and we the only people here. Slow is the word here. I know sushi takes time but this is slow death. The food comes out and I never had fried rice with teriyaki chicken. The chicken looks like from subway. Being from San Francisco thinking this is as close to japan town I blew it. twill not waist my money.

We stayed in Vega Baja for a week and went here twice. It was delicious both times and so was the service. We love sushi and it was amazing and the prices are not bad. The owner even recommended another place for us to try while in town and that was not only awesome as well but really nice of him. So I definitely reccomend this place.

Unilocal helped us find this amazing Suishi joint just off the north coast of Puerto Rico in the wonderful little town of Manati. I have eaten a lot of Suishi in my day and this was by far a shining moment in my culinary experience. This is a must visit restaurant and we plan on going again before returning to Florida. Plus the owners are on site working the knives and driving the ship. Amazing amazing amazing.

Fu Hou Sushi Bar; it’s an excellent & superb sushi bar & restaurant. From the first time I’ve step foot in; I was welcomed greatly. Their attention to detail is impeccable & the service is right down to the letter. Sushi Menu is out of this world; at first glance it might look simple; but preparation & presentation it’s undeniably perfect. The taste it’s nerve wrecking to any palate for it’s best taste. The place is very clean, nice lighting, the décor it’s precise to the space. Has a minimalist feel & look; when less is more. The rest of the menu is awesome; & every couple of weeks they thrive on achieving some new concoction for an adventurous palate & most demanding tasteful person. Be sure to no miss this place in a town where they basically got it all & great beaches, never forget about that. Enjoy the evening in Fu Hou Sushi bar

Best sushi I’ve eaten hands down! Me and my hubby were vacationing and we were craving sushi but the only place we knew of was in Condado were our hotel was. But since we were with out friends in Arecibo they took us here instead. Upon first entering I noticed the high ceiling which I love. The place was modestly crowded but not uncomfortable. Our waiter was uberly nice. We got some great recommendations for sushi because some of their special rolls are not in the menu. Lets break down the food: Honey roll: DELICIOUS! My favorite by far!!! Eel, smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado all melted inside and then tempura fried on the outside to give it a nice crunchy texture. Sailor roll: this one was a recommendation. It was not on the menu. It was similar to a volcano roll but had spicy crab and smoked salmon on top. Manati roll: this is the signature roll of this restaurant. It has a guava sauce on top that melts onto the roll. It is so unique and so gooood We also had one of their dishes from the kitchen. I cant remember the name but it was a stir fry of chicken and vegetables and eggplant, which is one of my favorite veggies. All in all best sushi i’ve had, even when i compare it to places back home. Not even the restaurants that are in Condado(tourist traps) can compare. Definitely check it out!

BRAGGINGRIGHTS&EXPECTATION ~ Not that I consider my hometown of Manatí to be lacking anything: it’s very close to the Barceloneta Outlets and a Caribbean Cinemas; it’s on the way if you’re going from San Juan to Arecibo; it’s easily reachable via the highway; has a 24 hour Walgreens and CVS; has one of the best hospitals outside of San Juan; it’s a nice looking«pueblo»… But when I saw there was the very first ever sushi restaurant in Manatí, not only was I surprised — since all sushi restaurants are in San Juan for the most part — but I also soorrrta, kiiinda thought it’d suck. I mean, truly, I’ve been to Asia several times, have lived in Miami where there’s quite a few good sushi spots, and I now live in Los Angeles, which is the U.S. Asian Mothership. I’ve had my fair share of very delicious(and creative!) sushi. Yesterday, after my baby bro woke me up from a beauty sleep nap, almost scampering, asking me to go with him to try the newly opened restaurant, I agreed to join him thinking I’m not going back to LaLa in a few months, so I might as well just hunt for a sushi place. I took my Catholic«rosario», prayed a little«Padre Nuestro y tres Ave Marías», and hoped for the best… Thing is, I found it. FIRSTIMPRESSION ~ The property is new and nice, has high ceilings and it’s very clean. Our friendly waitress, Adria, welcomed us very warmly and asked us to pick any table. The décor is not chic, but it’s very decent, with tables and a couple of booths, as well as a full liquor bar. It was all neat and clean. As I browsed through the menu, I noticed they have many Chinese food entrées, among which are Beijing style duck! I am SO going back to try that! They have a small selection of Puerto Rican side dishes, like«mofongo», although I wouldn’t see why anyone would want to order that at a sushi restaurant, but if you go in a group and have a picky person with you, it makes it easier for everyone. CHOW ~ I know what you may be thinking: one of the obvious signs that you’re not at a great sushi place is usually that they also serve Chinese. I must say this was NOT the case. The fish, shrimp and ingredients were very fresh. The sauces were absolutely perfect. The rice on the sushi was not loose. All textures were right. More specifically, and in order of preference: *Manatí Roll — DECADENT! Salmon tempura, cream cheese, mango, spicy crab, eel sauce, honey and — wait for it… — guava sauce! It made my palate c-razy! It’s a very provocative and creative choice, and most definitely my favorite. *Michy Roll — Shrimp tempura, smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, eel sauce and spicy mayo. What I found interesting about this choice is that it’s a journey: the way it tastes when you put it in your mouth is not the same as the aftertaste. Great smokey taste, yet not overbearing. It’s delicious, very fresh and well thought out. *Super Shrimp Tempura Roll — This one is a deep fried double whammy! If you love your crunchy sushi, this is for you: shrimp tempura, scallions, cream cheese, eel sauce and they also deep-fry the entire roll. Getting a side of spicy mayo for this one will add a nice touch. *Phoenix Roll — A rare, great option for those allergic to seafood or who don’t like fish: your choice of chicken or beef teriyaki, cream cheese, topped with sweet plantain and eel sauce. Very good! A special highlight on their fruit punch: it’s home-made, delicious, refreshing and goes GREAT with some local Don Q white rum! We didn’t order dessert, but they have tempura ice cream, tempura cheesecake, lychee and flan. THEBILL ~ 1 Manatí Roll @ $ 16.25 1 Michy Roll @ $ 14.95 1 Super Shrimp Roll @ $ 9.75 1 Phoenix Roll @ $ 13.75 1 side of spicy mayo @ 50¢ 1 side of eel sauce @ 50¢ 1 Pepsi can @ $ 2 1 rum punch @ $ 3 municipal tax @ 61¢ + state tax @ $ 3.66 ___________________________ = $ 65.22 plus tip MYPUERTORICANSTYLEDIRECTIONS ~ As you may have noticed on the listing’s address, Puerto Ricans are not big on GPS, so we rarely use exact addresses in the island. If you Google the name and city of the restaurant, you’ll see all it says as an address is «Carretera(which means road) #2, Trigal Plaza Shopping Center». This means that, coming from San Juan, when you get off on the highway on that exit #48 towards Manatí/Ciales, you will reach a 4-way stop light. To your left, you’ll see a shopping center called Manatí Plaza with fast-food restaurants, a 24h Walgreeens and(most obviously) a massive fountain. Opposite of this, to your right, you’lll see another shopping center called Trigal Plaza with several moving ads(the kind that attach to trucks), a Church’s Chicken and a Burlington Coat Factory. Just continue after that stop light and you will see the entrance to Trigal Plaza on your right and the restaurant right across from Burlington Coat Factory. There’s plenty of free parking!
