Yummy Puerto Rican food! I visited this restaurant for lunch after a very long day of work. Seating is at your preference. Waitress quickly visited the table to take the order. I ordered water which was quickly brought to the table. My meal consisted of two plates. I ordered mofongo mixto which is mofongo made of yuca, green plantain and yellow plantain. I also ordered tostones a la Maria relleno de churrasco which is double fried plantain with strips of skirt steak on top. The steak was marinated in a soy sauce. The house made soy sauce is super juicy with the right amount of salty elements. My steak was ordered medium well and that’s exactly how it was served… It was very tender.(Side note, I don’t think it comes with chimichurri sauce but the waitress suggested to add some on top of the steak which was perfect.) The tostones was served with a side of salad. Throughout the meal, the waitress frequently visited the table to ask if we needed anything else… it may have been because the food took a little while. Honestly this place doesn’t look as good as it tastes. Its located in a plaza and has mediocre tables and chairs. Theres a huge bar and a few TV’s. It’s definitely not a date night spot, but still a great establishment if you want good food. Oh, and since its in a plaza, there’s tons of parking. Delicious food. Inexpensive menu. Good customer service. Happy dining!

Pedimos churrasco a término medio y nos han traído dos suelas de zapatos. Quemado. Arroz maspoteado malísimo. Y luego tras esperar 45 minutos para nada.

Came here at the recommendation of a local family member and I was not impressed. The food was the most forgettable I’ve had my whole trip and it’s not convenient to get to. It wasn’t terrible by any means, it’ll do if you’re in the area and there’s no other options but I wouldn’t go back. The group I was with ordered whole fish, shrimp asopao, steak and shrimp al ajillo. All were ok but as I mentioned nothing special which has really been our experience with all the places we’ve eaten, including shacks on the side of the road in PR. I will mention however that the waitress we had was very nice! She was very patient with our big group. We were also lost since its in a strip mall and I called to get directions and another girl stayed with me on the phone until I found my way which was a good ten minutes. They get kudos for service as everyone was very polite and attentive but the food was just not as great as their service was.

Si vienes a Puerto Rico, tienes que comer comida criolla! This place is definitely a local spot. Random, unassuming location in a strip mall. Casual, somewhat tackily decorated interior. Air conditioning blasting. And packed for lunch on a Saturday. That means it must be good. Come here for the carne frita. This is what my mom orders whenever we’re in town, and here it’s hella good. Dryness is the main issue with this dish in many establishments, but the hefty chunks of carne here were moist and seasoned to perfection. It comes with a side(tostones, mofongo, amarrillos, rice and beans, fries, etc) so the portion is big ‘n’ plenty. So Puerto Rican. So perfect. My grandparents ordered the bistec empanado, but they did not enjoy it. According to them it was dry and had a tough consistency. I didn’t try it, but I sure saw it. It was humongous. I had the mofongo with salmorejo de jueyes which was also a large portion and fricken’ flavorful. Wash it down with a cold Medalla, and you’re good to go. But not without dessert! The pumpkin flan was small but tasted absolutely delicious. The prices aren’t the cheapest, but we found them reasonable considering the portions and overall quality of food. Definitely check out El Toston Criollo if you’re looking for an authentic spot for Puerto Rican fare. Repeat after me: car-né fri-ta. Order it now and thank me later.

Came back and got some yuca mofongo and chicken breast, croquettes and rice and beans with chicken chicharron… MUCH better than my first visit, maybe because the place was hoping or maybe because I was starving. $ 37 got us — mofongo, caldo criollo, chicken breast, chicken chicharrones(5 pieces), tostones con pollo al ajillo(toston with chicken and garlic) and rice and beans, and croquetas de bacalao. 5 people pupu plattered the food. 5 people ate like pigs and we had left overs. Have I had better — SURE. Was it as good as an aunts home cooked meal? Yep, and service is really sweet! BUENPROVECHO!
