Very average place, good people watching location but food very cheap quality but not cheap prices. Beer good value though We won’t rush back. Waiter was nice and friendly, service wasn’t bad.

Excellent pastries. Had croissant with chocolate stuffing. Nice and flaky like a croissant but tastes a lot like a good donut. Cappuccino very nice too.

This is located on the Main Street that the arch is on, Rua Augusta. Super cute, fast, and you can get a ton of stuff for cheap! We got two cups of fruit to go, a pastry, and a glass of juice for 8 Euros. Fresh fruit in America would cost you the same as getting an organ transplant. Not a lot to say except their baked items are polished in appearance and look so appetizing. Definitely recommend you come here for a break. Oh, and they have plenty of seating on the side street.

The bread! oh my giddy aunt the bread. While on the outside Sao Nicolau may not distinguish itself from the countless bakeries on the main streets of Lisbon, the bread here really is among the best I’ve ever had, and it’s about time you had some as well. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? It’s small and hectic(think New York City), but Sao Nicolau gets the job done with a staff who are effective and friendly. Don’t speak Portuguese? Me neither, but you can make it work with a good old pointing of a finger, and what you should be pointing at is the bread. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? While bacon and cheese rolls coming in at only € 1,00, you’ll be in and out of Sao Nicolau for not more than the change in your pocket. Check em out — Fast, fresh, filling, and full of affordability. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Unf. Okay, so this bread, the bread that I literally can’t stop raving about. I’m not sure exactly what I’d would classify it as(some rendition of ciabatta maybe), but it was absolutely marvelous. A bit of crunch on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside, I literally bought a roll and ate it straight. I would love nothing more to bring it home with me in obscene quantities, but in the meantime the best I can do is spread the message in hopes that you’ll experience it. Wonderful. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? The bread? Absolutely, but the one thing that’s going to prevent this star here is the fact that there’s so much competition in the area that cranks out comparable goods. That amazing bread? You can find it next door, but don’t let that stop you from giving Sao Nicolau a shot. No Star Granted.
