Leitaria Camponeza

Limited menu options (beef, turkey, fish, seafood) but they made up for it with the quality of the food and portion size (I never thought I would say «enough» to seafood). Everyone enjoyed the food (the «spicy sausages» was a big hit with the kid) and for an atmospheric presentation ask for one of their «espedata“s as for sure it will make your evening.
Around ~ 25 EUR for a dinner (wine & drinks included) made this a great dinner location.
And it’s just off the main pedestrian street in the city center, making it easy for us to continue our sightseeing after dinner.
Loved the place — went back for a number of evenings during my stay :)

This place was amazing! Each of the tables has a «gas» lantern and when your food comes, they hang the brochettes (kebab like skewers) from them over your plate of fries and salad. It’s such a fun idea! The fries and salad were delicious too!
But really, the absolute best part was the host/​owner of this restaurant. She was so unbelievably nice! I was unable to finish all my food and she was visibly saddened by this because she thought I didn’t like it, but that was not the case as it was delicious!
She then recommended dessert of serradura, this amazing whipped pudding with crushed cookie «sawdust» on top. Was super tasty and she said each restaurant has their own unique spin on serradura — so you’ll never find the same one twice.
After dessert was inhaled, she brought over complimentary shots of sherry — in shot glasses made of edible chocolate! SO much fun!
Had such a wonderful experience there, I ended up hugging our host on our way out. Definitely recommended for a warm, inviting, and tasty evening!

Two buds and I shared hanging skewers of very tender tasty pork and prawns, along with a plate with turkey breast. The pork and turkey was exceptionally delicious, the prawns had a magnificent presentation but left me wishing for more flavor, plus they were not pre-​peeled. The serving size of the pork and prawns was what you’d expect, but the turkey quantity was low and hard to share. We sat at the mock hay carts, legroom was a bit lacking.
All dishes were accompanied by chips (fries) and salad, the chips were really spiced nicely… loved them… the salad was good with onions, tomatoes and goat/​feta cheese.
Atmosphere quiet, great for conversation. The price was right, beer was super reasonable, coke soda cost more than a draft beer… go figure… the meal was very tasty. Our server was extraordinary, even though she was alone and the restaurant was full.

Símbolo da cidade, voltou renovada e sem perder a identidade. A camponesa vem adaptada aos tempos modernos, com uma esplanada bem agradável e sem perder os emblemáticos azulejos que contam a sua história. De leitaria já terá pouco mas tem refeições e é um local bem agradável para beber um café e desfrutar do ambiente envolvente. Volto sempre!

Já a conheci como um café com pouca variedade de produtos. Já foi um café mais moderno com mais comes e bebes e um pouco mais caro. Agora a Camponeza está no seu auge de esplendor. Com a decoração interior que lhe é devida, uma pequena e muito agradável esplanada e um leque de pratos deliciosos embora os preços sejam já um pouco mais elevados. Finalmente a Leitaria Camponeza é um local de excelência na baixa Lisboeta!

Já não é uma leitaria, mas esta Camponeza, fundada em 1907, continua a ser Arte Nova no expoente do seu esplendor. A arquitectura, interior e exterior, é maravilhosa, com os seus motivos florais e femininos em grande destaque. De referir, ainda, os azulejos originais que decoram as paredes e que dão grande protagonismo à vaca — não fosse este local a anterior morada de uma leitaria — ao homem e à mulher do campo.
Há uns tempos atrás, cheguei a assistir a um concerto lá, sendo que, na altura, este espaço era ainda um café comum. Entretanto, com esta última visita, confirmei que mudou o seu rumo e que, felizmente, foi para melhor. Actualmente, este espaço funciona como um local de refeições, sendo os preços medianos. A aposta no novo mobiliário e iluminação é adequada e integra-​se harmoniosamente com a beleza deste espaço.
A Camponeza é absolutamente assombrosa. Ela é um legado de uma época, de um estilo, que está acessível, no agora, a todos nós. Merece, definitivamente, uma visita.
