We came here for some lunch on a Sunday as it was the only place in the area that seemed to be open. This is part of a chain of bakery-cum-cafes in Lisbon, and if like me you’re Scottish, you’ll understand completely when I tell you that it’s a bit like a Greggs. They bake bread and a range of other goodies on the premises, and they have a selection of preserves and other goodies to sell. There’s an outdoor patio for the smokers, and a large upstairs seating area that includes a huge bench table if you have a group with you. Service was a little strange, you had to take a numbered ticket at the door as though you were at a grocery counter in the supermarket, and wait for your number to come up on the screen. As it was quite busy I suppose this makes sense, but it almost discouraged us from entering as the queue stretched out on to the road. However, things moved swiftly along, and I soon had a nice bowl of soup and a smoked salmon sandwich on my tray, together with a fruit juice drink. My server spoke enough English to be able to tell me what the soup was, for which I was very grateful as my Portuguese vocabulary consists of about four words! There was free Wi-Fi too, which is always a nice bonus, although the signal quality was pretty poor on the front patio. Still, I managed to check in, and that’s the main thing!
