This is a budget hotel and please take that in to account when reading this review. The staff were great, the were friendly and very helpful. They looked up bus times, they changed a large Euro note for smaller bills, they were excellent. The accommodation is very basic, it’s an old building and internally it’s well maintained and has had a lick of paint recently but it certainly hasn’t been modernised. The stairs are very steep, with short steps, so it would be difficult to carry a very heavy bag up to your room(all are on the first or second floor from what I could work out). The rooms themselves are very clean, the beds were comfy and our room had a small en-suite. There was even a new flat screen TV and phone in the room. However the room was very hot, we were there during one of the hottest days of the year and I don’t think I have ever slept in a hotter room. There was a fan provided but our windows just opened on to the back where no breeze could get through. Luckily it was quiet around the hotel so it wasn’t a problem having the windows open. It was just really hot. This was the main down point of the accommodation. If I had slept well the two nights we were there I would have probably given it four stars but sleep is probably the most important thing with a hotel… The breakfast is included and is extensive. Cooked bacon and eggs along with cereal, toast, salad, boiled eggs, yoghurt, the list goes on. So value for money it was amazing, just the loss of sleep that let it down. The position was also good, right on a main shopping street with lots and lots of good quality shops. The bus station was just over the road and you could get a bus from there to Utrecht or the train station(amongst other places). There were a few restaurants and bars nearby, enough to entertain without being too noisy. Just next door there’s a Jumbo supermarket. Oh and free WIFI throughout our stay. I don’t think this hotel knows what to be, a budget hotel with the rooms or a three star hotel with the other facilities and breakfast…
