Re-branded as part of the Best Western chains, this reminds you of US hotels. It’s spacious, modern, and offers a decent value if you are willing to sacrifice the convenience of being in Amsterdam — comparable to Amsterdam but larger rooms. Rooms: Spacious rooms that looked like a normal US hotel room — office desk, closet, room to walk around all sides of the bed. Thermostat on wall to control temperature. Multiple TV stations in both, English and Dutch. Bathroom: Some rooms come with the transparent glass door that offers minimal privacy. Our double room had the glass door but it was frosted and the walls were painted white, but our suite room had a glass door. The shower had a glass door with a dark laminate tile that gave a modern, upbeat feel. Train station is about 5 min walk and it costs 3.60Euros and 15 min ride each way into Amsterdam Central Station. Bar is available on the ground floor and elevator worked which are big ++ for us.

We stayed at the hotel and ate dinner there after a long day of travel. I was hesitant but it was a good surprise. We ordered the daily specials and our food was delicious. It’s too bad more people don’t dine here because the chef is talented and it’s a shame to see his skills not put to work. Pleasant service and a nice dinner experience.

UPDATE: the breakfast offering have been slightly upgraded, and the scrambled eggs weren’t overcooked. It appears that a real chef has been hired to work the breakfast service. Regarding the barren kitchenette, I’ve learned that if you request it, plates, silverware, cups, etc. will be delivered to your room. Apparently they’re concerned about theft of said items, but it’s not clear to me how providing it only upon request would prevent that. Elevator working, but still painfully slow.
