Great environment and has everything to offer. We went kayaking on the lake behind the camp and it was so calming. Stock up on the free breakfast, Amsterdam can be expensive. The price for this hostel is fair considering all you get. The distance from the city square was not a problem because the free shuttle covers it.

1. Excellent breakfast. Seriously– stock up.
2. Sooo relaxed and wonderful. I would spend way more time there than the city if I could do it over.
3. I contemplated 4 stars, because we had a seriously hard time navigating the trains and finding the place; but then I realized that its lack of proximity is what kept alot of undesirable tourists away, and thus secured its coolness. So, 5 stars.
4. There are hammocks!!!
5. People just left us alone– no fake mingling and trying to hook up. I felt less like I was at a frat party and more like at your cool, older cousin’s lake house.

Its a nice break from the craziness of Amsterdam, so if you’re there for more than 1 night, I do recommend staying here. If you come back after the train stops running you will have to pay for a cab, but they have a deal with a company (which they will give you the phone number for) which will only be 35 from anywhere in centraal to the hostel. Super clean place. Nice staff. Decent price.

this place is super cute. and a great deal for the price. however, it is not directly in the heart of amsterdam, so it is a bit of a trek to get to, but overall worth it. and it’s not a traditional hostel, you’re actually staying in individual trailers of varying size. and there’s a great little lake just a short walk away. actually quite a beautiful location.
couple of things:
1) you’re going to have to take the metro to the outskirts of amsterdam where a ‘shuttle’ of the hostel will pick you up. read the directions carefully. you’ll know you found the right place when you find a small sign for lucky lake shuttle stop.
2) if you bring a laptop, know that the wifi is not super dependable, but does it’s job
3) the supplied breakfast is awesome
i brought my parisian friend here, who usually stays in the city, and he can’t wait to come back. hopefully i can make it back soon as well.
