First thing I noticed when entering this restaurant was that there were some large Chinese families having dinner. So I immediately knew that was a good thing. Foodwise I wasn’t dispappojnted. Great food, large portions and quick and efficient service. What else can one wish for!

If you know a bit of Cantonese Chinese food and like it, you’ll def like this one. Hands down the most authentic in Utrecht. Yes they treat you with Chinese quickness(don’t take it personal, that’s what they do) and give you a sweat cause your triyng to eat that large portion. But that’s because they don’t waste! We ordered half a Peking Duck which was quite expensive. We told him to cut it up for us so we can roll it in the pancakes. We didn’t order a lot of order stuff that had duck in it so the cook decided he’ll just make something with it. We ended up with two more really nice dishes in which the leftover duck was put. Chef’s great attitude and respect! Therefore I don’t care it’s price anymore.

My boyfriend and his college friends used to come here every year for Birthdays because they liked their rijsttafel so much. The past few years that I’ve tagged along I never saw the appeal. For me as a vegetarian there aren’t that many options that actually sound appetizing, but I manage to eat something there whenever we go. The portions are quite big here which is a good thing, but this means that if you’re with four people, order for two or three and you’ll have plenty, which sadly means less options to order. I always love ordering multiple different things and trying everything. Within my vegetarian limits of course, but those options are too slim for me here. The boys started feeling that this place lost the appeal it originally had to them, so thankfully I don’t have to sit through Birthday dinners here anymore. *Happy dance* So maybe Paradijs used to be as awesome as le boyfriend used to describe, but it has long since lost it’s glory to the point where I never even saw the appeal. I’d much rather go to my regular take out place a twenty minute drive away if it’s Chinese food I’m looking for. If I’m looking to have a nice dinner in the city, I can think of loads of other places I’d rather go to than Paradijs!(Humphrey’s comes to mind, and El Olivo. Mmmm… *drool*)

Go to Utrecht for dinner??? Well… sometimes you got to get out of the Amsterdam bubble :) They are rude and speedy as in any good Chinese restaurant. Goooood!!! Food is great. The chicken and the veal were superb. Great vegs and rice. You really come out after wards smelling like a dim sun but it is worth. Two steps away from train station. Cheap. All beers, specially Chinese ones :)
