De Ontdekking has been one of our favorite places in Utrecht during the last couple of years. Unfortunately our two latest visits were completely unsatisfactory. The space continues to be lovely but the cleanliness is an issue. We had to actually beg the waitress to clean our table. At the same time we had to wait for a fair amount of time before we placed our order. The result was two really badly made cappuccinos and a mediocre cheesecake. We will give it another chance since we really used to like it but it will probably be the last one.

Lovely place for the wanderlusting people out there. It was an old travel company and now its a cute place to eat, drink and chill. I ate the farmer’s bread with serranoham and a mayonnaise of truffels, which was great. They also have a nice homemade lime and mint soda here! Service is good and quick and there is free WiFi! If you are on your own, its also a nice place to write some stuff or to release your inner hipster.

This is a great little café tucked just a block away from the beautiful UU library. They serve a really nice chai latte and their blueberry cheesecake was to die for. Seating can get cramped during weekends but generally they have a table or two free.
This is a great little study spot if you’re looking for a place to do some reading or writing. The staff is prompt and friendly and know the menu very well. I would also recommend the café brûlée and the brownies, although the latter are not quite as good as the cheesecake. Nice ambiance music too and not too loud of a crowd. Seating is either in the basement area, on the main floor or upstairs, and are all nice in their own respect. If anything avoid the table by the bathroom in the basement though. The couches are a nice addition.
