Of all my European hubs, I like flying into or connecting at Schiphol most. Aesthetically nice, often-​upgrading, free WiFi, and a pleasant environment make it better than many of the septic airports elsewhere. Lots of amenities, and easily-​accessible to Amsterdam if you have a long layover. The only problems are that short connections can be problematic as you need to hustle by foot (no trams) through the airport, often going through customs between. TSA-​like screening is done at the gate, so arrive earlier than you would for a US flight. But in general, much more pleasant and low-​stress than Heathrow or de Gaulle.
