We were lucky enough to stay in one of the Cube Houses, and it was really a mind-altering experience. We wound up questioning our most basic assumptions about what a house«should» be like.(We also wound up with various bumps and bruises, as standing up in the wrong location can be surprisingly painful.) Playful and unexpected, the Cube Houses are a great attraction if you’re interested in the daring architecture of Rotterdam. Definitely visit the show house to discover how the interiors work, or stay at the StayOkay hotel that is part of the complex.(One of the other units is listed on airbnb, which I recommend.) If you’re just passing through, make sure to take the off-kilter photographs that will perplex your friends at home. The only drawback we discovered is that the exterior courtyard can feel a bit grim, and there are a lot of steps on the way up from the street. Be cautious if it’s snowing, as the whole area gets slippery if no one shovels. Another drawback is that tourists peer into your windows at all hours of the day and night. We just waved and pretended to be celebrities, but if you’re shy, this may drive you crazy.

The visit costs 3Euros so it is quite cheap. It should not cost more though at it’s small. It is funny to see
