Ahoy Rotterdam

Came here for Russell Peters show and fairly easy to get to from Brussels. We left at 2:30 pm and should have been here in 1.5 hours but decided my passengers needed a detour thru downtown Antwerp — twice (!) so it took us 2.5 hours to get here. Lots of parking if you get there early enough.
But OMG! That actual arena — it was such a pain to find our seats and what made it worse that we asked no less than 5 ushers were out seats were and 2 of them sent us in the wrong direction while three of them either said ask another colleague, with one of them actually get on his earpiece to find out! So while the ushers were trying to be helpful, it didn’t work as they didn’t know where our seats were and we took a full lap of the auditorium with a detour below before finally finding out seats with seconds to spare.
The wifi signal is another failure — I was able to log on fine in the dining areas but not near the actual theater. Oh, also the ladies bathrooms were quite dirty when I used them around 5:30 –ish.
The pity of it is that it’s a great location for the venue but the amenities (or rather the lack of them) lets down the overall experience of attending a show here. Might come again if another unmissable show plays, but will do so reluctantly.

Ahoy is often used for big concerts — Rammstein, Dream Theater, Muse, etc. Most times I have been here the acoustics were terrible in the seated areas. Ahoy being a stadium — and the podium usually being set up at one end of the stadium — also means that you’ re actually quite far away from the podium if you have a seat at the other end. The sound quality in the standing area is usually better, but still not great.

i was there to see Cesar Millan. the stadium is clean, well organized in terms of moving crowds in and out. i sat center but in the back. thank god there were huge screens on each side of the stage so i could see him.
the concessions i would give a big fat thumbs down. over priced and everything in a plastic cup with no ice. food choices were pathetic, back of chips or popcorn. i was glad i had eatten before i arrived.
