Though Purmerend is not known for its thriving bar scene, Bonte Koe is a reliable option when you’re looking to fill your belly with high-​quality beer. The bar sports a great selection of brews on tap and on bottle (including some American beers, which are notoriously hard to find in the Netherlands), making it a favorite for local beer lovers; on Saturday’s you might have a hard time finding a spot to sit.
But whether you’re sitting or standing, the friendly staff is happy to serve you and will gladly advise you on which beer to taste next. And if you get the munchies, they’re also more than willing to fry up some typical Dutch ‘borrelhapjes’. All in all, Bonte Koe is a nice low-​key place that’s perfect for boozing and talking; we’ve had many a great conversation here.
