De Posthoorn

The entire meal was spectacular from start to finish. the service was attentive, but not overwhelming. the restaurant is about a 30 minute bus ride from amsterdam, but well worth the mini detour. we ordered the impression version (surprise dishes) of the meal and couldn’t be more pleased. every dish was delicious. a great meal for a great price.

Just 12 kilometers above Amsterdam you will find the picturesque town of Monnickendam. Once we have lost our hearts to a 16^th century house, in the old part of this town, along the Gouwsea. We got married there, in the old town hall, two houses from ours and the lovely Lutheran church. Our eldest three children have spend the first years of their lives there.
To relive all these sentiments with our children and parents, we decided after 15 years to spend x-​mas eve in all suites hotel Posthoorn, very near to our former home.
It was a wonderful experience! A divine dinner with fantastic and original wines. It is for an obvious reason that they were awarded with a Michelin star.
The rooms are, like in all boutique hotels, differently decorated with a mixture of nostalgia and modern luxury.
The x-​mas breakfast the next morning was also an unforgettable one.
All this and the fact that we had snow and a frozen Gouwsea with iceskating people, made this one of our most unique x-​mas experiences.
