Jacketz is really the best. When it first opened I thought it would not stay afloat for very long because I had seen restaurants came and went in that exact location but then I gave it a try and was hooked. The potatoes are baked to perfection and the fillings are just divine. My faves are the vegetarian ones, they just mix sp well with the scrumptious potatoes. My go to comfort food. The manager and staff are friendly and attentive. I went with a pregnant friend and we ordered smoked salmon. The manager told us pregnant women shouldnt eat cured fish and changed our order, free of charge, despite we already had the salmon dish on the table. Love Jacketz!

Loved it. If you like stuffed baked potatoes with a lot of options, you will love this place. Very filling — I believe they mix the potato itself with cream, cheese or butter. Hard to leave this place hungry.

Jacketz is simply the best! I must have gone weekly during my time studying abroad and each time I was equally satisfied. Great staff and atmosphere. I highly recommend to anyone visiting this charming little town. Would love to see this concept brought to the Bay Area(wink wink).

We went here for our first meal in Leiden and it was excellent. Very large portions and good quality jacket potatoes. It was so much food I couldn’t finish my meal! The owner and staff were really nice as well. I definitely recommend.

I went here with my mom to have dinner. One could ask: «Dinner? But it’s only one potato, right?». Yes. It’s only one potato but a big one at that and it has a lot of topping in/on it. It took a long time for us to get our filled potatoes. So long that we went to inquire what happened. They had put our order on another table. There was no apologies for this mistake that had us waiting for around 20 minutes. Really odd. The employees do not seem to care really. They are students and do not seem to understand how things work with customers. I also say this because one of the employees told me it is policy to first give out food to take-away rather than serve the people in the restaurant. This he said when I remarked that he was serving people that came in later than us, before he served us. Once we had the potatoes, they tasted really nice. The toppings were royal and are not expensive. I also like the decoration and interior of the place. Nice and modern and clean looking.

Given that it is rare to find proper large potatoes for baked potatoes to buy in the supermarket in the Netherlands, makes this place even more special. You choose between a whole and half potatoe(jacket), then if you want you choose between a nice selection of fillings and toppings. For example at the moment of writing they have pulled pork in whiskey maple sauce, in short; it’s heavenly. Portions enough for a filling lunch or a good dinner. I highly recommend a visit to this place if you are in to potatoes. If not, you probably will be after a visit.

I used to think that adding bacon to my baked potato was fancy, but Jacketz kicks it up a notch. They only serve 1 thing — baked potatoes, but the toppings are endless. This is frozen yogurt for the savory! There are so many toppings you can put on it, and though at first it sounds unhealthy it actually isn’t because the potato is more like a bread bowl that is filled with salad, cheese, nuts and whatever you had chosen. If you’re overwhelmed by the size of the potato, you can go for a half potato. Jacketz has transformed the humble baked potato into an amazingly delicious meal. Food: 4⁄5 Put your favorite toppings on a baked potato and you will have no regrets. If you crave some dessert, they also have baked apples which are just as divinely good. They also serve salad, but come on! Service: 5⁄5 Staff were friendly and helpful, offering suggestions on what toppings to choose. They even chatted with us while we were being indecisive over what we wanted. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 Tucked away on a side street, it is away from the foot traffic and quieter. It has a rustic feel and has that hole-in-the-wall feel I love! On a side note, they have a storage area that they have to climb a ladder to reach, it is so adorably Dutch. Value: 5⁄5 At € 4 for a whole potato which is going to leave you so stuffed, this place is a huge bargain! UPDATE: They now have a location in Amsterdam!

What a great place this is! Unfortunately, we don’t have one in Haarlem :) The idea is that you order a potato here that they bake, and they put in all kinds of additional things to this potato. The plate I received in the end did have a very large potato on it, but it was completely covered by other ingredients and a delicious salad! The only thing is, make sure that you are hungry when going to this place, because the dishes they serve are just extremely filling! We went there for lunch and actually did not eat anything for dinner in the evening anymore because we both were so full :)

What was supposed to be just a nice lunch snack turned into a big lunch meal that was almost sufficient for the dinner. Jacketz is a very nice lunch place where you can get a huge baked potato, or a half — that is what I went for. The inside of the potato is mashed together with some cream fraiche and served with your selection of greens, salad, cheese, bacon, sauces, nuts, etc. it all makes it a very big and nutritious meal. The potato is nice and soft with delicious salad selection. If you aren’t a big eater take a half of potato and it will still feel your stomach for a big part of the day.

Jacketz is one of Leiden’s best kept secrets. Although every meal is in a baked potato, Jacketz’s menu has different styles that appeal to different tastes and preferences. Every potato is extremely hearty and gratifyingly filling! My favorite potato is the pesto, bacon and cheese(definitely worth a try). They are also opening a Jacketz in Amsterdam soon. Bottom Line: The owners are great people, the potatoes are awesome, the prices are reasonable … What else do you need? I just need a Jacketz in NYC.

These guys take a silly idea and execute a genius product. So seriously, who’s got two thumbs and is willing to drop 11 Euro on a loaded potato? This guy… You start out with a masterfully baked potato. The whipped-cream textured insides are buttery. Then the chef/clerk/host/busboy/proprietor stuffs the potato with your choice of meats and veggies, tops with gouda or goat cheese, and drizzles on one of their delicious sauces. After ten minutes under the salamander, its time to get weird. Afterwards, go wash off the shame and take a well-deserved nap.

I studied abroad for 6 months in Leiden and it will always have a special place in my heart… and so will Jacketz! This place is unbelievably amazing and Im surprised something like this hasn’t popped up in the US. This place is definitely off the beaten track in Leiden and if you didn’t know any better you would just walk on right by it and not think twice about going in. The main idea centered around this baked potato bar is organically and locally grown foods and that is something important to Europeans as they do not like and GMF’s. If you thought a normal baked potato with sour scream and maybe a hint of nacho cheese is the cats pajamas this place will 100% knock your socks off. I visited this place almost once a week when I was in the Netherlands and always brought new friends with me. Its a wonderful atmosphere and the owners are so welcoming. If you ever find yourself in Amsterdam on a layover and you want to try some great food just take the train from Schiphol to Leiden(about 20−30mins) and wander the streets and discover something worth trying. I promise you will not leave hungry and you’ll still have drinking money for Einsteins, which is right around the corner :)

What a lovely place! Tucked into the middle of pictureseque Leiden, they’re on a mission to make the baked potato respectable. The range of sauces and toppings ranges from healthy to sinful(their dukkah is especially lovely). They serve a half-potato with, as they point out, the same amount of topping as a full one, so you can adjust the proportion of potato you end up with. Everything about the food was a delight. In addition, the folks behind the counter were great guys. The store is clean and calming. Even the restroom is neat and laid out well. A little oasis. These folks have ambitions to expand and, though it’ll be a long time before I see them on the US Coast, I’ll be sure to give them my custom wherever I find them. (Maybe I’m just a sucker for these two-guys-trying-to-make-it-big places — Stoats in Edinburgh is another that comes to mind. I mean, it’s just a darned baked potato place, and here I am feeling sentimental. See? That’s what a great eatery does.)

I came here for a baked potato and I received the Holy Grail of potatoes. Seriously, this place is absolutely and amazingly delicious. They even take time and care to make sure your potato is potato-pageant worthy. AND the prices are right on target. You will NOT be left hungry!

Mixed Cheese with Nuts) und ebenso Fleisch– bzw. Fisch-Variationen(z.B.
