Usine Eindhoven

Not great — food is ok and service slow. I really like the environment though.. Had the fish soup which was not bad but too salty to my taste, the «saté» sauce had too much sugar. Good for a beer and some snacks but that’s really it.

The Usine had everything and served surprisingly good food for such a lively place. There were party crowds Friday nights and a curt service during lunch and dinner. Enjoying this flow through regularly eating at the Usine had been an excellent partial glimpse of Eindhoven’s night life. An extensive menu for all budgets, friendly service, and a location between the Phillips Stadium and Eindhoven’s Centrum made this choice logical!

I came here for an early dinner during Eindhoven Glow because it was one of the only places available and there is a lot of seating. Overall, it was an «meh» experience, good enough for what I needed but I wouldn’t go back.

It is a café and the food is decent, enough to fill your belly but not really anything more than that. They have a broad menu selection and also daily specials so it is a good place for groups or picky eaters.

Wow… service was slow. It took 20 minutes and asking 3 different servers before we received menus and then another hour after ordering to get our food.

This used to be an old Philips building and the interior is the real deal in terms of «industrial design». I thought it was especially cool to see after visiting the Philips Museum.

Food prices are on-​par with those in other cafes, and quality could be better but taking into account the circumstances I was in, it wasn’t bad. At least I was able to eat.

Let’s start with the positive points; Great location, outdoor seating that gets a lot of sun until relatively late, fantastic ceasar salad (best in town) and nice décor. Bad points; the service is just horrendous. The waiting staff doesn’t see you. Also the accoustics could be better. I still go there but I would really appreciate it if they trained their staff to give a better customer experience

Great atmosphere (like a market), decent food and very nice service.
If you are by car you can use the garage nearby.
Overall a good place for a casual business lunch or to go with friends when visiting the city.

The location is great, it’s in an old Philips building. I had several drinks, diners and lunches over here, but the service is not good at all. The food is quite good, most of the time served quickly.
Last visit was on friday for a lunch, we ordered (after 15 minutes) some drinks, they brought it 10 minutes later. We asked for the lunch menu, 10 minutes later once again, and finally, when we already had asked for the check, they brought the menu! But then we already decided to lunch somewhere else.
When they improve the service, this place is worth 4 stars for sure!

The location is great, right near the city center in an old Philips building. The food is good and served quickly. But the service is not so good, and the interior is very cramped. Too many tables in too little space. I wouldn’t go back here.

Yeah. I’m not very impressed. The staff was lovely, but these Unilocalers are correct in saying that the service is poor. Now, I’ve corrected for what is considered Dutch standards of service (which are horrendous to begin with), and the service here is average in Dutch terms, poor in global ones.
I ordered a martini, a half dozen of oysters and chips, and my lovely companion had the tomato soup (guess which one of us is the healthy sister). The chips were lovely, I heard no complains on the tomato soup, buuuut my martini was served in a liquor glass and only a finger of martini, not a martini glass and my oysters were, all of them, incredibly gritty.
I’m not against Usine, but I wouldn’t necessarily come here again either, unless I was ordering something simple like soup.

Nice modern Bistro in the town center. Housed in a former Philips factory, the restaurant has several spaces including a loungy library (or at least reminds me of library tables), a formal dining room, and an outdoor patio. The food is a mix of classic Dutch and some updated bistro fare. The beef stew was excellent on a cold winter night, while the roasted sea bass is a good choice for lighter fare. The oysters were also better than expected, plump and briny and fresh. As the place is spacious, service can be a little on the slow side. And the beer selection isn’t that great. Overall, though, it’s worth a visit while in Eindhoven, and as it’s open from breakfast on, you can drop in any time.

Food is not bad, but for the price you’d expect better quality and more quantity.
Service has been typically OK, but our last waiter was kind of a jerk. We waited a long time for he even come by and take our orders. When we noticed that they did not serve the bread that was supposed to be part of our meal (according to the menu), he said it wasn’t included and that it was a new thing. He spoke as if we should have already known this! Finally, he said we could have it if we wanted and actually asked us if we wanted the bread! Did he think we just want to talk about having bread and not actually want it? At the end, we didn’t even get the bread because they were so slow and we had to get to our next appointment.
Vegetarian options were always a total rip off here. I paid 10 euros for 5 pieces of ravioli. I was still hungry. My meat-​eating friends have always liked their burgers though.
I only enjoyed my time here for coffee, which is a few cents cheaper than the prices at the Markt. It’s nice because of the French-​café inspired décor. I always get a kick out of the light-​bulb shaped cookies you get with your coffee (the place used to be a factory for Philips back in the day).
They have some cute things in the front. I think they are for sale, but I never tried to buy anything myself. Cute Philips postcards.

Usine is situated in an old industrial Philips building. A great place to meet people and work (free wifi). Overall food is good, but service is poor. Mistakes when preparing the bill or slow service.
If service improves rating would be much higher.
Visited several times in 2010 – 2012.
