This might just be the best vegetarian restaurant on the continent. The Monday night 10-course tasting menu is not to be missed. It will set you back about 30 euros but it is worth every penny. Reservations are advised and I recommend fasting well before your meal. 10-courses is a lot of food. Every week the menu is different. Here’s what I experienced: 1. Rucola-walnut cream with bread 2. Chopped mango with cream of date, poppadom 3. Beets topped with horseradish crème fraîche, stewed pear, green salad with walnuts and smoked cheese 4. Stuffed pasta shell, ricotta/spinach/arugula, cherval(herb) 5. Roasted cream of cauliflower w/saffron and toasted almonds, croûton 6. Creamy parmesian risotto w/arugula tempura fried oesterzwamen mushrooms 7. Bulger rice with spanish peppers, mint, cilantro, parmesian crisps, eggplant stuffed w/peppers and tomato 8. Italian goat cheese, Fr. camembert, blue stilton, spanish nut bread 9. Strawberry milkshake w/cherry on top 10. Choc crème brûlée and brownie with cherry syrup The restaurant is situated outside of the Dordrecht in the lovely Nederland countryside. The name translates to ‘head of the land’ as the geography of the area comes to a point with the waterways there. I cannot recommend this place more highly. Everything from the décor, to the service, to the food is excellent. They have a B&B as well if you think you can’t make it home after the tasting menu. It seems shocking that this place does not have a Michelin star(likely because Michelin is meat-biased) but for that I’m grateful. Kop is a diamond in the rough.
