Very unprofessional unwelcoming and utterly rude personnel. The receptionist called to reschedule a day before the appointment and left a message. I called the next day(day of) to reschedule but was told that it’s no longer possible since any change has to take place 24 hours in advance. Client beware! If you schedule an appointment watch your phone a day before because otherwise they might try to put you at fault!

This place is nice. I’ve been going there for several months now and I think all beautician are very nice, and more importantly very professional and efficient. I was impressed by how clean it was. They indeed don’t double-dip, which might be the standard in the US but it was the first time I saw that in Europe — it’s nice. You can book online through their website which I find really convenient. However they systematically call you the day before to confirm your appointment which I find annoying and pointless, but, well, you can deal with it. I think it is a little pricey, which is why it doesn’t get 5 stars from me, but besides that they provide a service with which I am totally happy.

I just moved to the Netherlands from San Francisco. I had a girl at a Salon back home that I have been going to for the last 2 years and I knew it was going to be hard to replace her. Especially that she was using hard wax. I was so pleased to come across The Waxing Company on Unilocal. The 1st review I read said enough — they were using hard wax and haD an experienced staff on board. I just went there for the 1st time on May 29th. The salon is clean and has 7 ladies on staff. All of them are experienced and follow hygienic procedures — meaning — when you go for a full brazilian they use disposable spatulas and don’t double dip! The whole appointment lasted about 45 mins but was not as painful as you expect — That’s thanks to hard wax. The girl did an excellent job. I will definitely recommend this place as they gained a customer for life. I didn’t see a credit card machine but you can pay with the chip debit card. Good Luck and hope this helps :-)

Not impressed. During my full-body waxing appointment the esthetician double-dipped. I mentioned this to her, but she ignored my comment and kept on double dipping. The salon atmosphere is not very welcoming. Also, they left many hairs behind, not a good quality wax. One good thing was that you could make an appointment online.

I have been to this place only once but i already love this place. I get a lot of waxing done and was nervous about finding a new good place in Amsterdam but this place is perfect. Clean — I am a cleanliness freak and this place was super clean. Roomy and Private — There is a spacious private room for each client Friendly — Vanessa was doing my waxing and she was very friendly and understanding. I was a little nervous about underarms and brazilian and she took it slow and talked to me throughout and made sure I was comfortable. Price — For the quality of service — reasonable Ambience — lobby, reception, rooms were clean. Waxing — they use hard wax which i am not very familiar with but it was a littl eless painful. Perfect for brazilian, eyebrows or arms and legs. Online booking — They have a great online booking system as well that makes life a little easy.

The Waxing Company is a very reasonably priced waxing studio located in a quiet(ie discreet) part of town. This studio uses hard, aka stripless wax, that doesn’t require removal with bits of fabric. I’ve heard that it is gentler on the skin and less painful than strip wax, but I’m not sure. Anyways, to the meat of the review: The salon has great flexibility when scheduling. They worked with my cramped schedule and got me a very convenient appointment… which I ended up missing because of tram issues. Thanks GVB. The salon was able to schedule me in for the same day at a later time, so no harm, no foul. The esthetician who worked with me broke the waxing convention of applying the wax in the same direction as hair growth. She sort of applied it willy-nilly, but I’m not bruised or banged up so I guess it wasn’t a problem. The wax even smelled nice, so plus points for that!
