The Coffeebrand

If your goal is to enjoy a good coffee stay away from this place. Otherwise maybe they have sandwiches, I will never know.

I had brunch here on Saturday morning last weekend after we vetoed the place we had in mind because their outdoor seating was in the shade. They have ample outdoor seating with morning/​early afternoon sun (although you’re on the busy Hoofdoorplein which can be a bit loud with all the cars, buses and trams going by), and they will come to you outside to take your order which is nice. I was skeptical because I wanted a proper breakfast and it appears at first glance to be more of a coffee place, but in fact they have a few egg dishes, some sandwiches, museli and some juices and shakes in addition to coffee and tea offerings. They were quite busy and the food and drinks were very, very slow to come out — they even asked us to remind them what we had ordered. But eventually it all came (strawberry smoothie, orange juice and carrot juice with cinnamon first, then caprese sandwich and loaded omelet) and it was all good. We also shared some carrot cake which has pieces of pineapple or apple in it — very moist and tasty but not your traditional carrot cake, at least not the one I’m used to. I need to accept that desserts and sweets in general in this country will not satisfy me — good for my waistline probably!
