There are so many sights to see and objects to explore, whether you are looking for some calm and serenity (Bamboo forest, Arashiyama), shop till you drop (Shibuya, Tokyo), eat the best ramen (Ichiran Ramen, Tokyo), go back in time and walk around a traditional street in a Kimono (Kiyomizudera Temple, Kyoto) or stroll around the park and do some cherry blossom spotting (Asakusa, Tokyo).

I had some ideas about what to expect. Aboriginals. Rugby. Hakka. Mountains. Kiwis. Bungy jumping. Sea, sand and sun. I wanted to get everything out of the few days that we had there. This meant good planning. So I bought a book at the airport to read during the 24 hour plane journey. Yes 24 hours to plan. Then it came — WINE!
We landed in Aukland in the afternoon. Checked into the hotel. The first «shop» that we came across was a wine shop. Super! I bought a book that was to be the basis of our holiday. It had the wineries on the North Island. Now we had our plan.
