Skatezone

I thought I’d throw in an English speaking review for these guys. They are by far THE store to get your ice hockey gear and inline skate rental for Friday Night Skate (YES you totally should do this at one point if you’re a resident or visitor of Amsterdam!).
Location is pretty central in the city on Ceintuurbaan. They carry most major brands of rollerblades, ice skates, and hockey gear (skates, sticks, protective gear). You could probably get full gear top to bottom from this store alone.
The prices are slightly higher than what you would find in North America, but when pickings are slim, you can’t really complain.
Skate rentals are actually pretty decently priced, especially if you’re going to do FNS. I think it works out to about 10 – 12 euro. HOWEVER, when you are renting, they require a CASH deposit (I forget whether its 50 or 100 euro) which is promptly returned to you upon return of the skates. I didn’t know this and had to run out to the ATM down the street to get cash. The rentals even come in a nice carry bag that you can wear as a backpack — totally convenient for your bike ride home :)
I believe you can also get speed skates (wheeled and ice) here as well.
