Rock and Run

My favorite race in Amsterdam! Ok, my only race in Amsterdam so far… I wouldn’t call myself a runner, and likewise this isn’t your typical race. It’s more for fun than anything else — they don’t even time you! (I think you need to request it? Still not clear on that.)
Anyway, there are two options: 6k and 12k.
There is a fun warm up you do all together with hundreds of participants at Noordermart led by someone on stage with a dj, then they blow a horn and you start!
There are bands playing on various street corners, everyone running in costume, you race through the beautiful streets of the Jordaan and somehow the
weather is always amazing! It’s great!
This year I ran next to this couple who wore one humongous t-​shirt together and last year behind a man wearing nothing but a old floral printed suitcase with holes for his head, arms and legs!
If you are a serious runner, you might be slightly annoyed about the pace at the beginning because there are so many people bottlenecked at the beginning, but if you are a casual runner, it might even be to your advantage as you are sure to start slow and steady.
All in all, I highly recommend the race and will do it again next year!
The cost was 16e for just the race and 25e including the race T-​shirt.
