Boy was this an awesome bakery! I had the privilege of visiting this place, and more importantly, eating all the different foods here. My family stayed in Amsterdam for a couple days while we were on our trip across all of Europe. I was glad that my mom found this place the last day before we left. The pastries here are heavenly… I absolutely adore them! I naturally have a sweet tooth, but I never want anything to go overboard on sweet. The pastries here are the perfect balance. I don’t know how you can make anything better… If you go and get stuff in the morning, you can still feel that the bread is still warm. If it isn’t, then you can ask him to warm it up and he will gladly warm it up! You can pretty much get anything here. My mom was more familiar with breads and pastries than I was and so when she asked me what I wanted I just blanked. Thankfully he recommended a bunch of breads that I just said yes to. I don’t regret it either. The other main thing to talk about is the owner, Robbie. He speaks pretty good English and is one of the most friendly people I’ve meet. He showed his passion for baking and making all these different breads. It was contagious! I wanted to learn how to bake(even though I suck)! He welcomed us into his shop and had a very warm attitude, which unfortunately is rare these days. I want to come back! Living in the US it may very well be forever until I go back, but it doesn’t stop me from wishing to. If you are in the area, don’t go smoke so weed! You can do that anywhere! Come here and eat! Actually remember what you did while in Amsterdam!

Stumbled upon this place while looking for apple kugel on our first trip to Amsterdam in six years. My partner jumped on a small apple tart which was extremely delicious(I was given a taste as well). After enjoying this, we took a look at the case again and a seeded cookie caught my eye. It looked not so sweet so I asked and the proprietor assured me that it was quite sweet. Well, that cookie was totally delicious as well — chewy on the inside, crunchy around the edges — totally wonderful. I told myself I would go back for another sometime and fortunately my partner recalled the name of the establishment, hence this review. Robbie sells whole grain breads and other pastries as well as apparently sandwiches to grill yourself on grills provided while you sit and enjoy at tables near the window. By all means, don’t miss this place. This is near the centrum so there is no parking to speak of — walk or bike here.

I wanted to stop for a while. Seriously. Trying new places is exhausting! And then — oh no, I did it again! Here I sit at Robbie, a place that was opened just a week ago(OK, re-opened with a new concept developed by a TV production). Destiny has led me past it. Only because after checking the new coffee roasters yesterday I decided to visit the italian deli that I came across recently. And by chance cycled by this spot. See, that’s how it works, it’s not my fault. Maybe I use this big introduction as an excuse that I don’t know what to write about tosties? About their goldenbrown, buttery crust. The warm, softly melting cheese filling, the other hearty ingredients. The best thing about Robbie is, that you can either choose a tostie option or create your fantasy style craziness. When you’re ready, you toast it on the provided sandwich grill on the table. That’s a clever concept because it saves you money. The standard tosties are all between € 2 and € 3.50. Yes, it’s true. I have photographic evidence. So. That was it. Last new place review for the moment, I promise.
