Great place to go. Very quite. Very good hospitality. Very cosy for nice dinner. Food is delicious. Very traditional. Many options for vegetarians. They could do vegan as well. Very much near to beautiful Vondelpark. Easily accessible. Must try in Amsterdam.

American vegetarian visiting and my Dutch friends said to try their food. Really good sampler dish. If anything, though it want spicy enough, which in my case means that it was pretty mild.

A moderately good, well priced Ethiopian joint along the Overtoom. My favorite part of the meal was a lesson on coffee, it’s origins, pouring and incense.

Love this place. The injera is spot on and the portions just right. I am vegan and they were happy to accommodate my diet. The food is not as spicy as some Ethiopian restaurants I have tried, which might be a disappointment to some, but I was with my spice sensitive partner so it was a good thing. I just wish they could give me a whole plate of the cabbage/potato/carrot dish, which is to die for.

The food is good here but I ve had better. Minchet Abish was great but the meat wasnt minced enough and I didnt enjoy the chunky texture of the dish at all. Doro wat and other accompaniments of lentil, salad, veggies, ingeera were great. My friend had one of the ethipoian beers served in a coconut shell and he loved it — the beer and the shell both! :) The service was great and friendly and the ambience is basic. This may not be a big deal to many but I like a little more cleanliness — dont get me wrong — the restaurant is clean n all but the cushion on my chair had stains and marks and trust me, I didnt enjoy sitting on it.

The Overtoom area has one of the highest concentrations of Ethiopian restaurants in Amsterdam. As such, it is very hard to review one of the restaurants objectively. Addis Ababa has a nice location, which could only improve if GVB made a tram stop right in front of it. The interior is nicely done. Since it’s customary to share the same platter with everyone on the table, it would have made more sense to not have tables, but the more ‘traditional’ stools around a central table. I thought the vegetarian platter was nice, although had subdued flavor compared to that I have had at other places. Ethiopian cuisine is not known to be bland, so I am sure they can do better to make the food more enticing. The service was personable, although inattentive. We had to wave at the staff-lady to get attention. While not exactly annoying, it was somewhat of a damper. All in all, Addis Ababa is a worthy part of the interesting dining scene in the city of Amsterdam. I fully intend to go back for another meal!
