Best food I have had in Amsterdam. I eat out 3 nights a week as am based here for work and nothing has come close to this place. High end food, quality wine and an all round enjoyable experience

We went here on the recommendation of our Hotel Ambassade. Anyway, what a great Italian place. Everything is made fresh there, organic. Great service, wonderful ambiance.

The atmosphere is comfortable somewhere between casual and dressy. The food is really fantastic as are the wines. The menu changes frequently. The portions, quality and price are all inline. This is a definite recommend.

We endorse everything that«Flow V» wrote. We’ve lived in Italy but were not expecting to find true Italian food and ingredients in Amsterdam. The chef and maitre d’ is brilliant and will discuss his finds knowledgeably, as well as thanking his suppliers in the menu. We had such a fabulous dinner that we brought four of our relatives another night, and everyone said«benissimo.»(By the way we now live in Portland, Oregon, one of the the foodie capitals of the US.) After reading some good reviews at Dutch websites and seeing the menu(everything biological /sustainable!) we decided to go here for dinner. We were with 7 people and it was absolutely great! When entering we immediately felt at home. The owner introduced himself and even the chefs waved hello from kitchen, which you can look into from the bar. The place is located in a small street right in the midst of everything that Amsterdam has to offer. Musea, shops, bars, and the beautiful canals are right around the corner. Inside it’s very cosy with lots of atmosphere, and it’s well decorated. You need to go up some steps to get to the tables, so it’s not wheelchair friendly. The chairs are pretty comfortable and there’s plenty of room at the table, on which you will find real linen and nice wine & water glasses. The waiter who served us was very friendly and always just there when we needed him but never there when we didn’t. This is an art you don’t see much anymore. After we asked he gave us lots of information about the wines, which helped us choose one that we liked. They have mostly Italian wines and we tried 3, all were very good. The cheapest bottle on the menu is 20 euro, but they also have plenty of higher priced wines. I remember we had a very nice Suave that set us back something like 30 euro. Well worth the money. The menu is small, but well balanced. They change it every now and then and only want to serve food made from fresh ingredients when they are at their best. The food was simply put, very good. The bread was fresh(home made every day), and went great with the nice olive oil. We got an amuse of goat cheese and sweet onions, which was delicious. The rest of the menu was just as good. Coquilles st Jacques(or scallops I think it is in English) with a mix of artichokes and herbs were wonderful, the pasta(home made gnocchi with lobster) was very nice and the turbot I had for main was just delicious. Very pure and simple, perfectly prepared. Other people had Jugged Hare(made of beef) with polenta prepared in an Italian way. A wonderful winter dish, full of taste and very fulfilling. Deserts were equally great. The chocolate cake(made of pure chocolate ofcourse!) was one of the best I ever had, and the lemon pie was sweet with a bit of sour and had a crunchy bite. Oh and I’d almost forget the cheese we had with a very good sweet wine the waiter convinced us to taste, which was much better the the port we originally wanted. Yumm! A 3 course meal costs 37,50, 4 course 43,50, 5 courses 49,50. Well worth the money!
