Delicious Thai food made with very fresh ingredients. The yellow curry was excellent, as were the prawns with garlic and mushrooms. Warm hospitality and great service added to the wonderful dining experience.

One of the best pad thai we get in Amsterdam. Oh and their chilly oil was really hot and nice

After a long day of exploring the City Center, I sought out a nearby restaurant on Unilocal and found this wonderful hole in the wall Thai restaurant. It had great reviews for their service and food so I said, «Why not?» We walked in and we were welcomed immediately. Our waitress was very sweet and had no problem speaking to us in English. She provided us with white chips as appetizers that helped jump start our meal. We ordered Egg Rolls, Pad Kee Mao, and Yellow Chicken curry. The portions were plentiful and we had enough leftover for dinner(helped the budget). The best part… prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you receive here. My favorite was definitely the Pad Kee Mao. It was the perfect spice level and the noodles were cooked just right. There were no overwhelming flavors and blended perfectly with the Yellow Curry which was kept over a candle to stay warm! This place is a winner.

Restaurant sympa, assez petit. Nourriture bonne mais ressemble plus à un bistrot tenu de quartier par des thaï. Pas de la grande cuisine, simple easy going !

Want to emphasize the service. Unfortunately our Noodles were over salty, but the way the owner/worker(nice looking tall Holland man) observe every detail. The noodles were too spice for my sister and he noticed that and brought her plain rice and a glass of water. We really appreciate that. The place has a Thai feel to it and in a convenient location.

non descript hole in the wall… but excellent Thai food. Price was good and service was great. Try the fish cakes and the papaya salad.

Very friendly service at this restaurant where we didn’t have to wait to get seated. We ordered a few dishes, one fish, one chicken and one beef. All were served in a metal pan with a candle underneath to keep it warm. I ordered a pad see yew expecting thick flat noodles but got thin long ones instead. Kind of disappointing however the taste was amazing! Comparable to the ones in New York. The pad see yew was very savory with enough sweetness and came with a good amount of beef too. Another great find.

We have been with 6 people here and both starters and main course have been great. The portions are in a good size. The prices are also good. Service was very friendly.

I love Thai food. The last place I was so impressed with Thai Food was a restaurant in Chinatown Manchester. My friend and I are visiting Amsterdam and I needed my Thai food fix. We walked by Phutakun and it did not disappointment! It had the«TripAdvisor award» from 2014 so we thought we would give it a try. The ambience was very cozy and with cute that décor. It’s just small enough to feel like it was a home cooked meal. We ordered the usual Chicken Green Curry and Prawn Pad Thai and they were both delicious. Probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The service was also impeccable! The server was extremely nice and the food came so quick. Kudos to him! I’m actually still sitting in the restaurant but I had to write a roaring review for them! I highly recommend them! I may come back to Amsterdam just for this restaurant.(OK…that’s a bit excessive but still… YUM!)

Un vrai thailandais… Des plats faits minute, l’equilibre des epices, du coco, du bambou, des noix de cajou est parfait. Le poisson y est fondant et la panure croustillante! Portions généreuses en rapport avec le prix. Service adorable.

Great Thai find in Amsterdam. Chicken Satay, Tom Yum Goong, and Panaeng Curry with chicken were all excellent! Prompt and friendly service.

Great little Thai restaurant in the middle of Amsterdam. The Penang Chicken Curry was great, and my wife enjoyed her Pad Thai. They were great with my ten-month old. When we arrived it was a bit slow, and one of the staff held our daughter while we started our meal! We would go back, for the great food and excellent service.

After three trips to Phutakun to absolutely make sure that this place is the absolute best Thai place in Amsterdam, I can confirm that indeed, it’s service, food, atmosphere, and prices are the BEST you’ll find in the city. The only thing to be cautious of is the limited space in the intimate and popular restaurant. With only a few tables, it would be wise to call in ahead of time to make a reservation(which they do accept!) on busy weekend nights. Otherwise, Phutakun is an absolute favorite. The prices are totally reasonable, especially when considering 1) how expensive this city is in general, and 2) how tasty the food is. The appetizer mix plate is a great way to try all of their goodies, and I tend to stick with chicken green curry but all of the shrimp, squid, and veggie dishes I’ve tasted have not disappointed either. Their pad thai also has a really nice flavor. Their service is great as well, both times I’ve run into a man and woman who tend to serve on weekend nights that are friendly and appropriately attentive. There is free wifi if you ask for the password and it’s in a great location close to Rembrandtplein and not too far from Dam Square. Will definitely be back soon, and would highly recommend to a hungry tourist in need to fulfill a Thai craving.

Our go-to, excellent, authentic Thai in Amsterdam. Bookmark it! Phutakun is a small Thai restaurant on Reguliersdwarsstraat which is almost a crowded walking street in the heart of one of Amsterdam’s gay quarters. The menu is simple and comes with all your Thai favorites, plus a few you probably never tasted before. The freshness and quality shine. Their appetizers are good, so try the Phutakun Mix which is a sampling. The Thod Man Plaa fish cakes are exceptional. For entrees, my Dutch friends usually go for the very tasty curry dishes while I lean towards the wok stir fried entrees. My favorite is Mhoe Krathiam Phrik Thai which is a spicy fried pork, garlic and mushroom dish served in a cute baby wok. So flavorful! I also love the Plaa Krathiam Phrik Thai which is a spicy fried fish, garlic and mushroom dish. Service is pleasant and you don’t feel rushed. Free wi-fi is available on request. Whether dining inside or al fresco on the sidewalk, everyone seems to be having a good time enjoying delicious Thai specialties.

What a wonderful treat as a last dinner in Amsterdam. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the location is good. The Pad Thai with shrimp was out of this world. We are picky Thai eaters and very critical when it comes to good Thai. This was superb, fresh Thai!

Healthy, affordable & well-prepared Thai food in the heart of Amsterdam. The tofu green curry was spicy — be careful with the(even hotter) home-made fish sauce. Generous shrimp portions in the sweet & sour shrimp dish. They don’t do free tap water though :( As with most Thai, not a problem eating gluten and dairy free here.

We stumbled across this lovely place our last time to Amsterdam. The service is relaxed, the way dinner should be! The menu has much to offer. Try the spring rolls — very tasty. The food is wonderful. The beef curry is fantastic. They have two tables outside, they are very popular. Inside is warm and cozy. Prices are very reasonable. The server takes good care if you.

Over our travels, this place has become a favorite of ours. We first stopped in in May and the owner actually recognized us when we returned this trip. We ordered the satè to start along with a Heineken each. The appetizer was delicious. On a previous trip we tried the spring rolls which were also superb. I had a shrimp dish and my partner had a beef dish with coconut curry. Spectacular. They brought out delicious fried noodles to pour the dish over. The best part was the spicy chile oil to pour over it. Sufficiently hot and very flavorful. The service is friendly, prompt and efficient. Plus, they take American credit cards! Yay!
