It’s pretty difficult not to fall in love with this beautiful and diverse park. The park houses thing that you’ll expect from a park, like both open areas, more secluded areas, as well as a playground for children. That’s all very well, but it’s not what makes this place really interesting. In one end of the park you’ll find the restaurant De Kas in their grand greenhouse and ordered kitchen garden. In the other end you’ll find a long range of very different small private gardens and plots seperated by small gravel paths and canals. In this area there’s also a larger area reserved for school gardens. The childrens very small plots all look more or less the same, except for the very creative name signs that they have created for their small kitchen gardens.

Park Frankendael is a just-large-enough park. There’s plenty of room for those who want a spot and a couple spots for the pups. It is mostly sheltered from the roads and yet it’s easy access from tram 9 and buses 65 and 41. There a little bit of water for those who love looking at water(like me), lots of trees, but plenty of open space. It’s a wonderful place to take a stroll or a picnic. There are neighborhood festivals here along with Pure Markt and I’m sure a few other events I’m not aware of. On the edge of the park, there is Huize Frankendael( ) and De Kas( ) if you’d tea or a nice meal. Definitely a hidden gem, but I think the people in the east love their little park!
