Very cute spot and good pancakes. Tried a Dutch pancake and also the poffertjes(small fluffy pancakes with powdered sugar). We stopped her before we went to the Anne Frank museum, so we were on a schedule, and we were in and out in a flash.

I’ve visited Pancakes Amsterdam several times, experiencing schizophrenically different service and food. It’s like playing Russian roulette with pancakes. You never know what you’re going to get. Either you’re sigh and leave content, or deal with a disappointing aftermath. Visit 1 was an underwhelming«meh». I ordered goat cheese with pine nuts, taking a leap of faith with savory pancakes. Alas, it came out doughy and undercooked. I ended up eating a third of it before quitting. Service was also slow. Looks like it’s best to avoid during weekends as I didn’t have this problem during weekdays. Visit 2 was much better. Their salmon and guacamole pancake was solid — a surprisingly delicious combination. Pancake was lightly crispy on the surface, giving way to a soft, spongey center. I cleaned out the plate. Visit 3 was a mixed bag. The goat cheese and pine nuts was perfect this time. Savory, delicious, and perfect. It erased my experience with the first visit. The same couldn’t be said of the sweet pancake — chocolate and banana. Maybe the banana was too ripe, but the consistency of the pancake was not solid. I’m not giving up on Pancakes Amsterdam just yet. They’ve been a hit or miss so far. I’ve narrowed it down to visiting during weekdays where there isn’t a massive line. It’s also when the pancakes have come out perfect rather than underwhelming.

Excellent sweet pancakes. One order is filling enough, but it is hard to choose between the sweet and savory! The coffee and orange juice are wonderful, and we were tickled by the souvenir wooden shoe key chains. This place is small, but worth the wait!

This place is very good and good pricing. The staff is nice. I had the Dutch pancake with bananas. You don’t need any syrup with it, tasty on it own. Only cards or pin, no cash

Awesome Dutch Pancake. As always I went with the waitresses suggestion! Ham and cheese pancake! Really great! Huge line to get in but moved fairly quickly and was worth the wait. Sounds like the other reviews say we need to come back and try a few others like the sweets! Might be back.

If your walking through Amsterdam it is mandatory to try many things, one of which is the pancakes. Make sure to try a sweat and a savory pancake. At this pancake house I had the hawain pancake, I have tried to replicate it back home, and have not succeeded. The location is great, just a couple blocks outside of the red light. We sat at an outside table and conversed with both parties next to us. Would definitely recommend. Cheers!

After a night of boozing in Dis-Amsterdam I needed to soak up the alcohol still left in my system. Surprisingly, there weren’t many dining options at 0900 in Prinsengracht. Since this place was open I gave it a shot. Like most buildings in Amsterdam, this place is narrow and vertical. The bottom floor has a small sit down area, but I was ushered upstairs. The upstairs area was relatively cramped, but that’s to be expected in Amsterdam. I still have a hard time eating savory pancakes, so I went with the Dutch De Luxe banana pancake. I couldn’t help but think of the Beastie Boys saying«When I’m in Holland I eat the pannenkoeken.» The pancake was nice and fluffy, without an overwhelming amount of bananas. The chocolate sauce came in a little cup on the side. Hopefully next time that I’m here I can man up to try one of the savory pancakes.

Upon coming to Amsterdam I was told that I had to try their pancakes. So I read up and found a few pancake places that were must-tries and this place happened to be one of them. When we arrived the line was out the door, but to our surprise we were seated fairly quickly. The servers were very nice and attentive and helped explain the menu to us. We ordered two pancakes, one was a daily special with ham and tomato and the other was a sweet pancake that consisted of apples, almonds, and cinnamon. While we thoroughly enjoyed the savory pancake, we thought the sweet one was mediocre. It had a little too much of an alcohol taste(I believe it may have been brandy?), too many apples, and not enough pancake. We also ordered a latte and fresh mint tea, both were great and came with yummy little stroopwafels. Overall we enjoyed the food and service!

Absolut empfehlenswert. Auch die Nähe zum Bahnhof ist optimal.

The one thing that kept me from passing out after getting off the plane was the thought of Pancakes. This restaurant was one of 3 places I HAD to try here. At home, I would NEVER wait in line for breakfast but I’m not at home so I cook be that Everything on the menu sounded so enticing but by the time we sat down we knew we wanted the banana, almond and chocolate sauce pancake and the poffertjes with butter and powdered sugar. They were sooo worth the wait. The restaurant is very charming and very tiny. You’ll notice that they won’t seat all the empty tables, my guess is so that they don’t overwhelm the kitchen which consists of only a few griddles. (I may have to go back here before we leave and test out the savory pancakes!)

Delicious Dutch pancake spot! J and I came here with two friends and left so happy. I had the pancake with apple crumble and ice cream and J went savoury with the bacon, mushroom, cheese and paprika. My pancake had all the goodness of an apple pie and it took all of my self control to leave some on my plate. J’s had great flavour and was the perfect amount of food for him. Be prepared to wait as there are only a handful of tables and a smaller group is best!

Amsterdam’s pancakes are a bit different than regular pancakes… think crêpe, but a little thicker and crispier. We ordered the Build your own pancake with pesto, dutch cheese, and ham… which turned out to be a very good choice. The pesto was out of this world. The other pancake we ordered was more of a dessert variety, which included apples and cinnamon. Slather on some syrup and you’re golden. This would have been a 4 star review if service wasn’t so grudgingly slow. I’m talking snails pace slow so be prepared to flag down a server if you need to order or ask for something. The wait time can be long here as well so be prepared as this is a tiny little restaurant. 3 stars.

Quite a decent wait considering we got here fairly early on a Monday morning. I had no idea what Dutch pancakes were before I came here, but quickly learned that Dutch pancakes are in no way similar to American pancakes, with the exception of the name. Served either savory or sweet, they’re giant and thin and reminded me more of a crêpe than a pancake. The ones you can find at pancakes! are amazing. Service was really friendly and efficient, which was impressive considering how busy they are. I ordered the goat cheese with pine nuts, which was hearty and really delicious. it was a little heavy on the cheese but otherwise good. Coffee comes with a mini stroop wafel — yum! Excellent place to try Dutch pancakes in the center!

Ohh whyy can’t you have a branch open in California. First off, you must get the poffertjes with powdered sugar on the side with whatever pancakes you get. My favorite was the smoked salmon/guac/chives pancake. Oh my lordy it was a burst of flavors with the chives adding a fresh pop to the ensemble. Then the goat cheese/spinach + add a little bacon = happy little me for the rest of the day. I really am glad I added the bacon, otherwise it might’ve been too heavy for me despite my love for goat cheese. The saltiness of the bacon helped balance out the thick creaminess of the cheese and pancake. Veggie pancake was a pleasant surprise, with the pesto flavor really bringing in all the sautéed veggies together. That itself was a filling and delicious meal. Personally, I LOVED the pancakes. It had a similar texture to a thick version of a crêpe, which itself had the spotlight stolen by all the mouthwatering toppings. But my friend was not a fan. She described it as the flour feeling too soft & slightly soggy. Something to consider if you’re wanting an American pancake, because you will be disappointed(unless you order their American-style pancakes). Our party of 5 had no wait-time because we arrived at an awkward time around 4pm, but I can imagine it would be a long wait for breakfast since the place is small. Waiters were friendly and service was good.

Pancakes are decent and unique but this is a super touristy spot. There are more pancake options here than other smaller, less well-known pancake houses, which is nice, but I think the more authentic places have better tasting pancakes. You also usually have to wait a while here.

I’m really sad we only got to go here once while in Amsterdam. I loved my gluten free bacon/banana/chili pancake! If you like those things, order it! Perfect combo of savory and sweet. My husband ordered strawberry/yogurt/honey and his was delicious too. Mine was better though…;) Service was a little slow, but they were pretty busy. Staff was friendly enough. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a pancake lover!(They have American pancakes too, but why would you do that?)

Tourist destination with sub-par food and service. Unfortunately, we fell for it. We waited a bit for a table, but got seated in about ten minutes, just as the server estimated. We ordered the jug of lemonade. It was OK. They partially fill the carafe with the lemonade and then fill it the rest of the way with tap water. I thought this was peculiar, since I witnessed several of the wait staff pouring themselves still and sparkling water to drink — yet they serve the customers the tap water. Then the wait was on. Nothing was fast here. After we ordered and it took at least 20 minutes for a server to come back to our table to let us know that it was not possible to make one of the pancakes we ordered because they were out of strawberries. So my wife opted for the banana, nut, chocolate sauce one. She thought her’s was OK. Too many nuts, which she scraped some off — no big deal. I ordered the banana, bacon, chili pancake. It came burnt and that burnt flavor over-powered anything the pancake had to offer. After such a long wait, I was very disappointed. I don’t recommend it and I will not return.

Cool flavors but really slow service, and the tables are just way too close together. My friends and I shared the goat cheese and pine nut, salmon and guacamole, camembert and ham, and strawberry, yogurt & lemon pancakes. I thought the toppings were inventive and pretty tasty, but at the end of the day, they just felt like glorified crepes to me. Of those pancakes, my favorite was the strawberry, yogurt, and lemon dessert pancake. They also actually brought out the wrong pancake at first(can’t remember what it was), so we had to wait another 15 minutes for the camembert and ham to come out. They did give us the other pancake for free, though, so that my friend could have a bit to eat while she waited for the correct pancake, which I thought was nice of them!

This really popular café is really small! So either come early or come later. My friend and I wanted to go for brunch here, but there was quite a wait and it was raining so we decided to just go elsewhere. We decided to come back later the afternoon around 6pm and we only had to wait 3 mins. The staff were super friendly and cheerful. The smell of pancakes was delightful. We had the Italian-styled Dutch pancakes and a custom Dutch pancake with salmon and guacamole! If you’re hungry, definitely get the Italian. It was a bang for the buck, because these pancakes are no joke. They were filled with ricotta and mushrooms, then topped with tomato sauce and parmesan w/a side spinach salad. This was different from American pancakes for sure; they’re much thinner, but not thin enough to be a crêpe. Have it with mint tea because it balances out the savory palette. Plus! You get a free keychain with your meal! Super cute.

Love love love this place! Came back here twice in my time at Amsterdam. Definitely try their poffertjes(traditional mini Dutch pancakes– similar to American silver dollar pancakes but much better) & the Dutch pancakes with strawberry, yogurt & lemon honey. It’s to die for. They squeeze their orange juice fresh so give that a go if you’ve been drinking too much coffee in Europe. Note: their latte comes with a baby stroopwafel! The service is awesome, everyone is super friendly and accommodating. It isn’t so busy during late afternoon, but it’s packed around 11 to 2. But they have a pancake quiz for you if you do have to wait haha. For kids, they have coloring postcards. It comes with a tiny pack of crayons that remind me of IKEA. Actually the whole place looks like a quirky IKEA. Downstairs, they have the cutest bathrooms. For the women’s side, you can write post it notes to stick onto the wall. For the men’s side, they have pins to stick on a map to state where you’re from. Very cool. You can also buy Pancakes! apparel and accessories for a decently reasonable price. A long sleeve Pancakes! shirt that the servers wear is € 12.50. Definitely stop by this place if you can!

These pancakes are so good that when we arrived back in Amsterdam, it was one of the first things on our to-do list. We went at 10:15 on a Sunday and it was very busy(it opens at 10am). We were lucky enough to get a table and then a queue formed quickly so get their early! I love the size of these filling pancakes. I’d recommend the sweet and savoury equally but I’m a big fan of the mushroom, goats cheese, pepper one :)
