I discovered this store when I was still living in Chicago and I visited my boyfriend at the time in Amsterdam. I was complaining bitterly about not being able to find a good pillow for sleeping on my side, and my then-boyfriend recommended coming here because he bought his mattresses here. We found this tri-chamber advanced technology duck feather pillow that was great for side sleeping and back sleeping, and I slept great on it for many years after that. Then when I first moved to Amsterdam I couldn’t stand my now-husband’s rock hard mattress any longer. He finally relented and agreed to get me another mattress to fit on my half of our bed. We came here because they have a large selection of auping mattresses and they are close by our flat. I didn’t know what I wanted, exactly, just what I didn’t want. The salesman was patient enough to let me roll around on all kinds of different mattresses based on my feedback of each one that came before. In the end I selected a super soft auping mattress that the sales person said was meant for someone who weighed very little, but I loved it because I am soft and a soft mattress was great for me. No more hip bones getting sore from laying in one position too long on a hard surface! He seemed a little uncomfortable with my selection, because I guess the mattresses are supposed to be sold based on how heavy the person is, and they will wear out sooner if the weight guidelines aren’t observed, but he didn’t give me much flak for it. Then a few years after that I needed another side sleeping pillow since the first one was too flat to use anymore, and I came back here again. Their pillow selection was totally updated, so I had to try out a bunch of pillows all over again. This time the Wilford Brimley look-alike salesman trundled back and forth and back and forth to get one pillow at a time for me to try out. I tried about 10 pillows before I found a great one that works with the weird way I smoosh my pillows when sleeping on my side. I didn’t think it was weird until the salesman laughed at me for not just putting the pillow under my head and leaving it alone. Then I found out I was kind of a freak. Finding something that matches your physical quirks is not something you can do when ordering online from say, . I’m glad there’s a store nearby where I can try things out in person. The pillow I bought is pretty expensive, but I know it will last at least 5 – 7 years, and it beats having neck and back pain all the time. I highly recommend this store if you want to get high quality bedding and pillows, and need a little guidance in finding what works for you.
