Mr Bean, why have I waited so long to visit you? probably because the reviews you get here aren’t being so nice to you… Let’s fix that! Mr Bean is a cosy coffee place in de Pijp. Light-colored wooden furniture, wooden floors, white walls, skylights, the place is very luminous, And spacious. And quiet… It has several normal tables as well as a big long one. It’s really the perfect place to come work on your laptop! The coffee is alright, although nothing special I have to say(there are better places to get a good coffee in the neighborhood). Food is nice: they are pastries, breakfast, lunch, borrel and dinner, so you can come at any time of the day and get your fix of whatever you need! The choice is quite nice. Every time I went, I enjoyed what I had. So far I’ve tried: croissants, yogurt with fresh fruits, honey and granola, and a salmon sandwich. Service is always extremely kind, which is rare enough to be noted!

We stopped by here for lunch today, my son and I had smoothies and my husband a coffee(he mentioned it was the best he has had in Europe which is high praise coming from him!). I had the signature salad which was really tasty, the boys had sandwiches which were just as good. Nice price and nice atmosphere.

Okay spot for a coffee. The back room has no windows which feels a bit claustrophobic and when I was there the music was playing really loud so it wasn’t a good place to work or think quietly. Friendly quick service and decent drinks and snacks though.

I’ve been here once before and one of the main things I love is the tranquility and calmness flowing through the place. I have days now and then that I do want to be out and about, though not be among a busy crowd. At Mr. Bean there seems to be a very relaxed ambience most of the time. They played slow jazz music when I was there and it’s very spacious so there’s plenty enough choice concerning where to sit. I ordered a flat white and a chicken pesto sandwich. The coffee was good for me, nice flavor, though I do have to admit that I like the foam on a flat white to be more creamy. It’s very common in Amsterdam to find the layer on top of the coffee to be a bit ‘too’ foamy. I’m personally not a big fan of that, but other than that, nice job! The sandwich’ arrival took a bit of time. Looked very nice, well presented, but taste-wise a bit plain. I would have liked to experience some more spice or herbs on the chicken. For € 8,95 you can definitely find better in this city. Maybe a bit more energy throughout the service and place could give the entire business an extra boost?! I like the place especially if you want to have a nice and comfortable talk with someone or work/read. Recommend a visit.

I’m on the fence here about giving three or four stars. The coffee was a little too hot in a little too sweet, but I did order the Mystic Haselnut. The interior is a mix between eclectic and a home study room. The back room has a huge skylight which shines on the largest table which looks nice for studying or reading or any day. The music was some mellow soul music which I was really Diggin and gave a nice mood for sipping coffee. There is also a projector on the wall with speakers which leads me to believe they have movie nights? Will have to stop back in sometime and try their sandwiches. Maybe then I can add to the review a little and see how their place expands with food.
