MokumBoot

A friend rented a boat this weekend for 4 hours, and I think it cost € 140 to take out the six of us. There was plenty of room, and we could have fit another two people comfortably. The boat was quiet — I think they use electric motors. The steering uses a wheel rather than a rudder.
I will use this company myself next year.

We decided to rent a boat to explore the canals. We were at the end of our European trip and were meeting my partner’s parents in Amsterdam and were looking for some low key activities to allow them to adjust to the time zone change.
This was perfect. Mokum was extremely flexible as we had to adjust our reservation a couple of times. They were right there at the dock to get us started. They provided a map and quick boat instructions. The map included different routes based on the time you wanted to spend, and the routes were marked on the canals when turns were necessary.
The time out was enjoyable and it was a nice way to see the canals and buildings in the city.

We decided to rent a boat from MokumBoot for a group of 8 to see the Amsterdam Light Festival and it was a fabulous experience! The boat we rented was an uncovered 8 seater without a captain (we drove it ourselves). For a group of 8, the price ended up being about half what it would have been for the same group to go on one of the organized tourist boats to see the Light Festival. Since it’s winter, they had a deal for one additional hour for free — so we got 3 hours for the price of 2. In terms of seating, the boat was comfortable; the website says it fits 8 max., but we had 8 people and there was still some free bench space. The boat had a good-​sized table, so we brought a large amount of food for dinner to eat while we took in the sights and lights of Amsterdam. MokumBoot nicely provided some little table lamps so we could see our food. MokumBoot also provided blankets, so we kept warm while sitting on the metal benches. The staff was relaxed and helpful. We will most definitely be renting from MokumBoot again in the coming months… next, I want a boat of our own!
