So I kept passing this salon on my way to work and really wanted to try it. I booked a junior stylist and they said it was 50 euro. When I asked does that include wash, cut and blow dry they said no, you have to pay an extra 10 euro to have your hair blown out. I asked for that as well, though I found it strange that it was additional when the base price is so inexpensive to begin with. When I got there they were very nice and got me in the chair right away. What’s different here then other places is that they cut your hair while its dry. I have no problems with this but its just different then what I am used to. She cut my hair and took a lot of time to do so and was very precise. After the cut she took me for a wash and then back to the chair. Here is where I stopped loving the experience. At this point she just started blasting my scalp with super high heat and sprayed ALOT of hair spray on my scalp and roots. Then she said ok your done! My hair looked a bit like I just got out of a convertible after driving around for 5 hours. I said aren’t you going to blow dry style it? She said no you don’t need it, just flip your hair around and it will look great. She didn’t charge me the extra 10 euro and I didn’t feel like sitting there longer at this point. Well needless to say I went home with pretty big frizzy hair and it didn’t look great, and with all the spray my hair felt sticky and gross. Now after I have washed my hair and styled it myself I can say the haircut itself is really nice and I am happy with it which is important. However, I personally like to leave a salon feeling fabulous, especially when paying what I consider a premium price. I would recommend this place for a good cut, but the experience is just ok.

I’m gonna write this review in english, even though I’m dutch. Since Momo V. wrote an atrocious review a couple of days ago, I hope she reads this. And by the way, Momo, all that aggression in your tone of voice/writing, no wonder Siko didn’t feel comfortable cutting your hair. I just had my hair cut by Siko and I think I found my perfect hairstylist. He looked at my face, the quality of my hair, run through it with his fingers, thought of what would look good on me and then, intuitively, he started cutting my hair. I actually look like a french woman now, hell, like Brigitte Bardot. I’ll be back with Mogeen and Siko! Anne Rats (haircut: friday 12.00)

I’m so happy to have finally found a great salon in Amsterdam! The staff were extremely conscientious, patient and pleasant. I got exactly what I asked for in terms of colour and cut. I have been looking for a salon in A’dam for the past year and a half and every single one I tried was either unprofessional, sub-par, or both. I had nearly given up on getting my hair done in this city. The new location of the salon on Vijzelgracht has a great atmosphere as well. Open, light, comfortable, relaxing music, capuccinos… very good experience.
