I can’t recommend misc eatdrinksleep too highly! We spent two nights there before embarking on a river cruise. The owners, Pepijn and Rachel were terrific. The hotel is just south of Nieuwmarkt Square with three canal view rooms and three garden view rooms. The three couples in our group occupied all three beautifully decorated canal view rooms. The rooms are air-conditioned(not needed for our stay) with free Wi-Fi, and complimentary minibars in the rooms. The included breakfasts we great – breads, croissants, cheeses, meat, eggs cooked to order, etc. As with most canal house hotels, there is no elevator, but the staff will take your bags to your room. We arrived early(7:15) at Schiphol and were met by the driver Rachel and Pepjin had arranged for us. When we got to the hotel our luggage was stored for us, and we got great suggestions for sightseeing, getting around, and places to eat Pepjin even made reservations for us for dinner both nights at great restaurants. Our final morning we packed up and left our luggage in our rooms. When we got back from half a day’s sightseeing, Gabriel had brought our luggage down, and we had a cab waiting for us within 5 minutes for a quick trip to our cruise ship. Whatever we needed, they were eager to help us and make us feel at home.

Ok, so we visited Misc a few years ago on a vacation, had a great time, and Rachel and Pepjin were great hosts. The location is perfect, room clean and comfortable, and breakfast a nice start to the days. Never expected to return to Amsterdam, but circumstances allowed a return last year, in which they coordinated an apartment in the area, and a return last month while passing through to visit our son in the east. Having such a great place to stop makes the choice of flying into Paris or Amsterdam for our connections easy, as Amsterdam and Misc are the friendliest and nicest place we’ve visited in europe. The only problem, we like the little bistro next door, Brooderbar, and we can’t have breakfast in both!

Fantastic service and staff! I rented one of the townhouses for a week. It had very cool modern décor. It was in a great location in Amsterdam.

Hidden Gem Located this quaint hotel on Trip Advisor. Truely a find. The owners were delightful local tour guides with vast knowledge and enlightening tips for foodie travelers. I traveled by myself to visit my daughter who was playing volleyball professionally in Amsterdam and felt safe and protected while in the hub of this historically beautiful city. The morning breakfast included in the stay was exactly how I love to eat while in Europe. The hotel is located on a main canal with breath taking and beautiful views. Walking distance to museums and shopping. You cannot find a better loaction. I took the train and walked directly to the hotel with minimal difficulty. It is a bit quirky and ecclectic but welcoming. Each room is themed, clean, and comfortable. My preference is to find«special» hotels while traveling in Europe and this did not disappoint.

We decided to try something different, and really lucked out. Anyone who has traveled in Europe before would really appreciate this hotel. King-sized beds, in-room coffee, free drinks and snacks in refrigerator, and spacious rooms by European standards. Oh, and it was clean, too. =) We also enjoyed the home-cooked meal in the morning which, for us, came around 10 or 11 on many days. Rachel and Pepijn, the hotel owners, were really helpful with suggestions that matched our travel style. Now we’ve got some favorite restaurants and things to do that have taken us back to Amsterdam twice in the last two years. We’ve stayed in the both the canal side and the garden side rooms. The canal side rooms are really quite large and have great views of a canal. The garden side is a bit quieter and the rooms are smaller, but we’d recommend either. Great hotel, excellent service, and the typical Amsterdam winding stairs are always fun after a cocktail at the hotel bar!
