When the Torta Della Nonna lemon pie is better than the date!!! super cute and cozy place! Will return with better company

Très grand resto italien qui a le (grand) mérite de servir en continu, toute la journée!
La déco est industrielle mais pas froide pour autant, avec de grandes tablées et des produits italiens en guise de bibelots.
Mon copain a choisi la pizza «Mazzo» (mozzarella di buffala /​lardons /​tapenade de truffes), très bonne.
Pour moi, ce sera les spaghetti alle vongole (vous avez le choix entre 2 tailles pour les plats, pratique!), bon mais trop salé à mon goût, dommage (16,50 €).
En dessert, j’étais tentée par le cannelloni chocolat/​noisettes/​mascarpone mais je n’avais plus assez faim!
Une adresse bien pratique pour manger à toute heure!

Great food and selection — enjoyable atmosphere and you don’t feel like everyone is on top of you which is nice if you’ve spent most your day in and out of the ‘coffee shops’ ;)

Friendly service. Excellent cold cut antipasto.
Good fresh bread. Spaghetti with scampi very good .
Cannelloni bolonaise excellent. Prices reasonable. Will return.

I don’t know what these other reviews are talking about; this place has absolutely delicious food and good service. My husband and I came here last year on our trip to Amsterdam and came again and it is still great. Food is very good and not too rich, vibe is pleasant, and the wait staff does the best they can considering how busy it gets. Yum! Oh, and there are actually Italians making the food. :)

After waiting over 40 minutes for our meal the waiter looked at us and laughed and still didn’t bring it.
Waiting still 10 minutes later. Almost over an hour to make this!
Scratch everything I said nice about this place after an hour of waiting for the food our waiter came to the table and said they are just making it now! Terrible service, DO NOT GO HERE!

My wife and I stopped here for a light dinner on our first night in Amsterdam. It’s not far from the apartment we rented. The food and wine were excellent. Bread was very good. I got a vegetarian antipasto plate and my wife ordered a risotto. Both were great. Service was a little slow, but we loved the place

Pizzas looked and tasted great– thin crust. Overall the service is very slow but the staff are nice and friendly. The asparagus salad lacked some vinegar but was a quick fix with a request for balsamic. Fresh ingredients all the way. Sat on the couch, not comfortable. We didn’t get our bread? Would have given higher rating except for the sloooow service.

Found this place when the rain was pouring down and we were desperately trying to find a place to eat dinner. The place is big, tastefully decorated and with an open kitchen.
We were seated on the sofa and unfortunately it wasn’t very convenient or comfortable for eating.
Service was quick, and bread and oil were served right away. I ended up ordering Risotto and my boyfriend ordered pizza. Food arrived quite quickly. According to my boyfriend the pizza was amazing — he was in heaven! My risotto was good, but I think I make a better one at home.
We had to wait quite a while until the waiter gave us any attention and we were able to order the check.
But all in all a good dinner place, but I recommend trying to get one of the tables with real chairs.

Hugely overrated. It looks the goods but it’s all bark and no bite. We had to fight for service, and when the food eventually came, it was blah. Go here if you love over-​paying for crappy service and mediocre food.

Been to Mazzo four times in the last year and I would say its reliable. Good Italian food in a nice atmosphere. The service is a little below par for the typical slow Dutch service but it manages to balance hip & family friendly so we will keep going!

Cool vibe. 45 minutes to bring bread. Ignored us until we tracked them down to pay. Meh.

Super hipper Laden, den ich als Empfehlung in meinem Wallpaper City-​Guide gefunden habe. Die Location ist in einem wunderschönen, riesigen, langem Raum im vorderen Bereich mit einer großen Bar, im hinteren mit offener Küche. Die Tische sind zahlreich und dicht beieinander, hier wird es schnell kuschelig und eng. Entsprechend laut wird es am Abend, wenn alle Tische besetzt sind. Die Karte ist Italienisch geschrieben und man kann sich vor lauter Leckereien kaum entscheiden. Doch jedes von uns bestellte Gericht von Vor– bis Nachspeise war toll. Hier sollte man unbedingt reservieren.

Very slow service. I would like to say that food was not that great either. I had the spaghetti and it just had way too much oil.
I will not come back to this place. It was recommended by a wallpaper guide of Amsterdam.

The other day we had a dinner at Mazzo and it was quite a nice experience.
I really loved the interior and the menu. Lot’s of the dishes seamed appealing, we ordered Antipasto Misto plate to share, Sward Fish Carpaccios, Carbonara Pasta and Mazzo Pizza. The Antipasto platter was quite nice, I really enjoyed the artichokes, beats and pesto crostini among the other snacks. Carbonara was fine, but my friend who had it said it was too cheesy and not particularly up to his liking. Mazzo pizza with buffalo mozzarella, lardo (I’m still figuring out how to better translate it, because there were no bacon pieces, but also no fat ‘lard’ pieces) and truffle tapenade was mediocre. I expected better from the restaurant specialty, as the pizza was’t anything special and was quite blend. But I really enjoyed the Sward Fish Carpaccio, it was light but flavourful, fennel and lemons complimented the fish beautifully. Overall, the food was decent with certain exceptions. The stuff was really friendly, although a bit slow with the drinks.
If i had to add something that upset me, it that I booked a table as it was a Friday night, but we still had to wait a while to be seated upon our arrival. When we got there the table wasn’t ready though I could see at least several other free tables for 4, but anyway we were asked to wait at the bar where we couldn’t sit or order a drink (it was busy). In the end, it’s a minor disappointment.
I will recommend Mazzo as a relaxed lunch or casual dinner place with your friends, where you can enjoy a decent meal, but be ready for a certain noise level in the evenings. READ MORE ON THE BLOG

It’s a shame the staff and management don’t have a clue as to what good service is. The food isn’t bad for italian food in Amsterdam.
We were seated and ordered water in good time but the water came after 15 minutes and it was all downhill from there. 45 minutes in, we got ONE of the starters so our 3^rd party had nothing to eat. She didn’t want what I ordered. After an hour an 15 minutes we had to get up to ask where our food was because no one came to ask if we needed anything in the past ½ hour. Water was nearly gone and 1^st starter as well because we were making it last.
My friend was assured the food would be out in 5 minutes so after ten I got up and said I’d like to leave since we are not being served. The manager or something again said 5 minutes. I said you already said that. So I agreed that I’d leave in 5 minutes if it wasn’t here and so they served me my risotto after 6 but the soup and salads my friends ordered didn’t come for another 5.
The manager explained it takes at least an hour for entrées but it was nearly 1 ½ hours and my friends didn’t order entrées, just soup and salad.
The manager offered a wine to me but I didn’t feel like it but my mother who has a slight cough said she’s like some water and guess what… That water never came. I gave my mom what was left in the bottom of my glass for her dry throat. The whole time 4 women next to us were getting drink after drink served by the waiter. I couldn’t get the attention for the bill so had to get up a third time to take care of that.
It was the single worse dining experience I’ve had on my last 3 weeks traveling in Italy and now Amsterdam.

What a nice restaurant has this become. I remember dancing in this place when it was still a club also called MAZZO.
The housewine I would recommend, but my rack of lamb was DELISH! Go for it.

Food is generally well prepared and certainly a place I would come back to.
Pizzas are fresh and the pasta will not disappoint.
My problem is with the staff. Sometimes they are great and sometimes it is hard to place an order. It is quite common to come one time and have someone allow water for example and then come the next week only to be told they have never allowed water to be served. The inconsistencies with the rules can be frustrating as if four people order several drinks and want a glass of water it shouldn’t be a matter of which staff you ask.
Secondly, we were also told that we were not allowed to order starters and then order main courses but we had to order all at once. So, we had to wait a while to make sure we knew everything due to this odd ‘one order’ policy that seems to be new.
Overall I’d say it’s worth a try.

Good Italian food, not great. It is a trendy place and it is very busy in the weekends so you need a reservation. We got appetizers, pasta carbonara and seafood pasta. The carbonara was very tasty, the seafood not so tasty. Bread brought to the table was good, but not typical Italian bread. Wine was OK, not a very large selection for the size of the restaurant.

Très chouette restaurant italien au coeur d’Amsterdam, bel espace pouvant accueillir un grand groupe.
Plutôt bruyant donc à éviter pour une soirée calme à deux mais par contre très chouette ambiance, service et carte délicieuse.
A l’avant et à l’arrière, grand canapé chesterfield dans lequel on se pose en mode relax pour son repas.

My friends and husband and I had dinner at Mazzo this past October. The restaurant is a fairly short walk from all of the main attractions in Amsterdam. The interior is decorated very nicely. It was very busy for dinner, so we had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartender was very good and attentive to our group.
Because it was so busy, the service at our table wasn’t the greatest, but the food made up for it. I got the gnocchi, which was delicious. My husband enjoyed his spaghetti, and my friends were happy with the pizza, salad and another pasta dish that I can’t remember.

I’ve been here for dinner twice with a small group of friends. The food is decent, but nothing special and for me Mazzo is a place with a nice interior and atmosphere, but I wouldn’t come here for the food specifically. Like I said, pasta’s and pizza’s are decent for the price you pay.
I like the interior: spacious and industrial and I like the semi-​open kitchen. It can get a little noisy but when you’re eating and drinking with friends I don’t mind at all.
I’ve had mixed experience with the staff. Nothing rude or anything, but the first time they seemed to have forgotten about us and the second time they gave me the feeling I had to pay and leave straight after dinner, while we were planning to have a nice afterdinner chat (I don’t even think we had finished our bottle of wine yet!)…
Overall, OK for what it is.

Have to say I came with expectation though their well-​known bad service is also bared in mind.
Early afternoon would be perfect for some juice so I ordered a strawberry smoothie for the staff’s recommendation. It took a while for them to make which convinced me it is fresh. The staff are nice this time I visit. There came the smoothie which I don’t feel the freshness.
For the main, I went for a Ravioli di avocado with antiboise & salted ricotta. I shall say it is alright. Not juicy no rich.
May come back for the pizza next time, they’d better be good by then. :(

Petite boîte accuueillante
Une petite boîte accueillante grace notamment à des videurs complaisants. Elle ouvre ses portes à 23h et se remplit dans l’heure. Ici c’est techno et house à gogo. Très sympa. Julien

L’ambiance est sympa. La déco est jolie avec des images projetées sur les murs blancs. Il y a souvent des concerts.
