As another reviewer mentioned, this is truly a budget butcher — but low prices do NOT equal poor quality! When you’ve exhausted all of the sad meat options available at the last minute at Albert Heijn, come here — they have lots of readily available cuts and ground meats that I have not seen anywhere else in town(except for flank steak — have searched for translations of this to no avail. If someone knows what I should be asking for, let me know!) for ridiculously low prices. It’s a small shop that can get crowded at times, but that’s probably because the locals are all in on the secret I wish someone told me when I first moved here. I will happily go out of my way to stop by this meat market from now, especially since it’s located right around the corner from Ten Katemarkt. This part of town takes my weekly meal prep to the next level!

OMG! This says it all. it was 5,15 for a kilo, that’s a kilo of pork belly. At two other butcher shops I normally shop at it’s 30,00 euro for a kilo. They also have other cuts that I haven’t seen in other shops. I will shop here for all my meat needs from now on.

A Dutch friend recommended this butcher and I finally went today. How have I lived here, so close to this place, for this long and have never been? I feel ashamed! It’s well-stocked with all kinds of meats(not fish of course!). There are staff members there if you need help, and they were all smiles today, something I truly appreciate. I asked if they had breakfast bacon, and sadly they don’t, so he gave me something else to try. It’s a clean and open area so you can easily see everything. It’s all well-marked with what it is, prices, and weight. But I really couldn’t believe the prices. Between three different packs of meat, a few fruit and vegetables from the market around the corner( ), was about 10 euro. HOWISTHATPOSSIBLE? Obviously I’ve been living my life wrong. But it’s okay, because I have found the way. My tip: Go here and the market first, then go to the grocery store for what ever is left on your list. My guess is that you will save at least 30−50% on your groceries! I know they take pin and cash.

Several Dutch friends suggested this butcher and I finally stopped by on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy and I see why. They had the best selection of meats I have seen in Amsterdam and many cuts I had never seen in the Netherlands. My wife and I ended up buying several packages of steak and they were of very good quality. This is now my go to butcher for everything I need.

Budget butcher indeed! Really a great value stop for all your carnivore needs. They have your traditional(albeit often hard to find in Amsterdam supermarkets) cuts like rib eye and chicken thighs(skin on or skinless), as well as your more exotic options — chicken hearts anyone?(Yum! Really!) My lone complaint are the hours. 9 to 5 during the weekdays. Same on Saturdays. A plan ahead destination apparently. Right next to Ten Kate market. UPDATED: Went today(after writing this review) and new hours are until 5:30. Still not civilized — IMO — but hey, a little better.
