Jay’s Juices

After reading all the positive reviews, I had high expectations of this place — but I was very disappointed! We did not feel welcome and were served by an emotionless man who seemed kind of cold or annoyed — not passionate about making the smoothies at all! Well, maybe he just had an extremely bad day — then I am sorry– but I was still very disappointed with this place.
I ordered a smoothie-​mixture of banana, mango and orange, but it ended up being almost pure orange juice. I paid like 6 € for that and as a student who is always short of money, that was just a waste of money to me. I have had much better smoothies for a good price. Very sad.
Apologies, but I can not recommend this place over other ones.

After a few days on vacation, my body was craving some vegetables and nutrients. This place is legit. Ran by a free spirit man with tons of juices from mainly fruit to mainly veggies and wheatgrass shots. Good juice and just what I needed.

I got to visit Jay almost every day during my recent stay in Amsterdam. As always, he took care of me. I kinda kept with the same drink every morning which was the Velvet. This drink is made out of Apple, Carrot, and Ginger… very simple but really good and energizing.

Delicious! I just stopped in and got some love in the form of liquid from here. Its a very beautiful space that smells fresh and alive. The prices are affordable and the quality is amazing. I truly felt nourished from the juice I got there. So many options and not enough time to try them all!!!
I went back a 2^nd time: Jay is a very social person and loves to chat with the customers. I ordered a small drink and I guess he wasnt paying attention and he made me a large. It wasnt as fantastic as the first drink I got there and I was to shy to tell him I didnt order a large. Maybe if it had of been as good as the first, I wouldnt have cared?

Dude! Even in this unexplored territory of Amsterdam (for me that is), I can find a straight hippie like old dude cranking out some health juices for me. I am a health nut because I have to counter all the bad stuff I do. Jay’s Juices is a tiny little shop, I don’t even recall a place to sit because it was just a quick visit to give my day a boost of health. He has a huge bulletin board of choices to choose from. But when I asked if I can make a personal concoction for me because I am picky, he said in his slow wielding way, yes. But before I do I order myself a shot of wheat grass. While I was there, another gentleman came in and was very conversational with –Jay-​, seemed like a regular, I would be too if I lived around the way. Yes, I would again. Now that I have my formula in hand and a shot of wheat grass… Whoo ready for action and more adventures!

Love this place! There isn’t much room for sitting to enjoy your drink, but boy do you enjoy it. I haven’t yet had a juice I didn’t like there. Also fresh wheatgrass shots for your super nutrients and young coconuts to rehydrate yourself. There is a «loving» vibe in there which makes you feel warm.

If Jay can change his life by sustaining himself with juices, so can you. This is one of the gems of the Jordaan area. If you live nearby, you’re lucky to have an entire shop dedicated to nothing but the freshest of the juices and smoothies nicely advertised on one of the biggest menu boards in the city.
Not that I need any more nutrition than I get, but I have seldom stopped at Jay’s Juices to try out something new on the menu. It’s always been great to indulge in friendly conversation with the man himself and to watch him blend up something delicious. He’s also one of the most polite and cheerful people I have met. Often, you can also find coconuts that you could enjoy water from. I have yet to bring myself to try the wheatgrass shot, but one of these days, I will.
It’s almost ironic to see this shop in between the multitude of coffee shops and bars in the area, but if there is one thing you can thank God for, it’s fresh juices in the neighborhood: o)
