Pros: It’s perfect for people traveling alone, and couples. Gezellig, to use the Dutch word. Cons: They charge city tax upon check in, which is fine, but using a credit card would be nice. Fortunately I had some Euros on me. Location: George WPA is right across the street and an excellent place to eat. It seems very popular with the locals. Museumplein is very close. This hotel gets a bad reputation on some sites, unfortunately. No, it’s not a 5-star hotel, and it’s not priced as such, either. When you book this hotel, this is what you get: * A clean room near public transport * Courteous employees * An adequate breakfast * Free wi-fi Negatives: * No fitness center(wouldn’t expect one in a converted old mansion * Very small rooms(I’ve had smaller; this is Amsterdam after all) * Thin walls so you can hear your neighbors(earplugs help) They offered a flat-rate taxi to the airport which was right on time, and they have tour info at reception. Personally, I think it’s charming and I’ll stay again.

We decided to stay in Amsterdam a couple days longer than planned and were referred to Hotel Atlas by their sister property, King Hotel. The coordination between the two properties was unbelievable. King Hotel handled everything short of check in for us at Atlas. By the time we got there, it was just grab our keys and go. The room was on the lower level(basement) which was an interesting experience. But very quiet! The room itself was reasonably sized, well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. While it lacked the old charm of King Hotel, it made up for it in modern amenities. Staff was friendly even though we had little interaction with them. For Europe, I was very surprised that both hotels offered a complimentary breakfast. And boy, was it delicious. Dutch cheeses, pastries, eggs, meats, yogurt, juice, you name it. We will definitely stay with these hotels again.

This hotel is in a quiet little neighborhood. It’s right by Vondelpark which is nice for a picnic. Free wifi and breakfast are included in the rates. Rooms are good sized but not all have air. You can open the windows but on the garden view rooms are right at street level so it can be a little noisy. The staff is very friendly and offers advice on what to do in the area. This hotel is owned by the same folks who run King Hotel. Stay at either location for a great experience.
