This deli is a perfect stop to have a bite to eat before exploring the city. We were visiting from the US and stopped by for breakfast. We had a warm bagel with brie and ham. Delicious! The deli has outside seating, and two floors of cozy seating indoors. The menu was mostly in English. Yum! We recommend it.

I am a huge fan of bagels. This place is super cute and pleasant. The bagels are nice(I just had an everything bagel with butter) so I can say anything about the rest of the bagels… Service is cery friendly. I didn’t expect too much and I got just what I wanted– a quiet place to read a book and have a bagel with butter.

Nice little spot for a bagel and schmeer. Laid back atmosphere, cozy spot half a block from de hallen. outside seating for people watching. a little nook downstairs for kiddies to play.

Gari’s Deli is a place where I feel very much at ease. Friendly people, healthy food, a mostly wooden interior that says ‘just relax’ instead of ‘are you hip enough to be here?’. For you health freaks: they have spelt bagels too! For you health wreckers(as in, smokers): there’s a terrace too ;-) Oh and between 8:30 and 9:30 on week days there’s € 1 small and € 2 large cappuccino!

There are a handful of places in Amsterdam where I look forward to having breakfast every so often. Gary’s Deli is definitely one of them. I’ve always found the atmosphere very relaxed, even when the place is crowded. The service is welcoming and attentive. But ultimately, this place is about their bagels. By far the best you can find in the city. Having grown up in New England, I’d all but given up ever eating a proper bagel while living in the Netherlands. Gary’s Deli make a damn fine bagel that isn’t too far off what’s offered state-side. They have a great assortment of cakes, muffins, croissants, and other pastries. Sunday they serve up American style pancakes(plain or blueberry) — great on a chilly day. The coffee could be better(stronger) but it’s fine [for great coffee in the neighborhood seek out Lot Sixty One]. If you’re with good company try to grab the large comfy seat upstairs, all the way in the back. Great service, bagels, and setting. Always enjoy time there.

Just stumbled on this place on an expedition from the jordaan. We like it very much. Bagels are indeed delicious as his fresh mint tea and also lentil coconut soup homemade

An oud west institution, Gary’s is the epitome of comfortable. Some might say its a very American café feeling with its wifi and big cups of chai. Me I just think it’s a great place to hang out, work, eat bagels, and beyond all this. Eat pancakes on Sunday! I’m not taking Dutch thin pancakes either. I’m takin American fluffy pancakes. Mmmmm

This my favorite Amsterdam place for bfast. Service and the place is super nice, good bagels(if you are a NY bagel freak you probably won’t like them even before you try them) and amazing pastries. The Sunday hotcakes are super!

Big windows, warm, friendly staff, two stories, patio, free wifi and really good bagels. They do American style pancakes on Sunday mornings. No maple syrup though, just table syrup… like barbarians.

Had a very average tuna salad bagel there. The tuna salad was drowned in mayonnaise. There were maybe a few pieces of peppers and onions … but really far from good! Adding all this mayo, obviously hides the tastes(and probably the quality of tuna) Service was nice though, and they have a lovely terrace to enjoy sunshine. Perfect for a cup of tea!

I’m a native New Yorker, I know what a bagel is. Given the fact that you can’t find real bagels in the US outside of NY, the fact that we are across the pond poses even greater challenges. Gary’s does it well! I work from home so come here to work in a happening-but-not-too-loud environment that is sunny, with strong internet, strong coffee, and good food. When I first stumbled upon this place, I knew I’d be back. Its nice to be able to work without pressure to keep ordering food. I highly recommend their new bagel with roasted veggies, hummus, and pine nuts. Delicious!

High ceilings on a corner lot with windows running floor to ceiling in this cozy bit of Brooklyn in Amsterdam. Gary’s is priced on average with any other café in Amsterdam, but delivers much more character and flavor than the others. The bagels are from a third party, but they are good and the sandwich options are creative and emblematic of a funky Brooklyn café. Whether engulfed in a read and your coffee along the windows or quietly tucked into conversation in either the loft or sbterranean room, Gary’s will capture you the moment you walk through the door.
