The Shallow Man has haunted the Pijp, like a wandering ghost, for many years now. There are some outstanding places to eat in that neighborhood, but also many, incredibly mediocre places as well. A shining beacon, and a lifesaver, for a man, living alone in the Pijp and too lazy to cook, has to be foodies.
i’ve been buying food from there for years now, and the price/​quality ratio has always been outstanding. They serve quality food, that puts many restaurants to shame. The staff are always friendly and polite. I strongly recommend their various fish courses, which are always delicious. They also do one of the best saltimboccas that you’ll find anywhere.
Another plus is that they have a good selection of wine as well.
For the singles out there, another Shallow Man tip is that if you’re entertaining a date, but don’t have time to cook, buy the meal from foodies, throw away the boxes, and make a huge mess in your kitchen. The person in question will fall at your feet when they taste how good the food is, it really does taste like genuine quality home cooked food.
