This place is really nice to sit in, old fashion trainstation fancy and cool. The food though is a bit pricey for things that are not all that special. If you are at the station and need somewhere to sit while waiting for your train, I would stop in here for a drink for sure just to be able to look around.

I’ve probably been coming here for close to twenty years now, and it feels like an old friend now, comfortable and well worn. I love the feel of the place; hipster this ain’t. And I’m cool with hipster, but these faded classics have their place too. Consider what else is here and this is your best bet if you have just arrived jet lagged and grumpy and need peace. And peace is what this place provides in a serene setting. That damn bird has been there forever. So have some of the waiters. I wouldn’t call them indifferent, just old school business-like…which I’ve observed all over Europe. Some find it off-putting, I don’t. I have never waited more than ten minutes for my ritual caffe verkeerd when I come here. The food is ok, and often quite good. I usually get something simple like an Uitsmijter, and it’s fine. In fact I’m heading there now…

This is the old first class waiting lounge. High ceilings with a victorian look and feel. This is an excellent place to meet for business with someone that is also commuting by train. A separate dining room that can be booked for private lunches or dinners.

We had breakfast here twice and thought the food — Dutch pancakes and apple strudel — was excellent. The service barely reached indifferent. The décor is gorgeous(it’s the old First Class waiting room with high ceilings and beams and decoration).
