Down Town

Located in Nieuwmarkt these guys serve up an American style burger. It’s a nice thick meat patty on a soft sesame seed bun. They have several selections as well as the ability to add your own toppings. I had a classic burger, 200 gram with cheddar, bacon and a fried egg with a side of fries. Sides of mayonnaise and ketchup are not automatically offered. You have to ask for them and even then they’re the small condiment packets.
It’s a relatively small restaurant with plenty of tables available outside. They have beer on tap, a full bar, three sizes of soft drinks, small, medium and large that rival the soft drink sizes you get at MickeyD’s excepting they’re served in a glass. It was a really nice welcome change from small cans or bottles of soda with a few cubes of ice in a small glass. They have milkshakes and desserts too.
In addition they have a steak sandwich, a chicken sandwich, a fish burger and a vegetarian sandwich. They also serve pancakes, an American, English or Dutch breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. It’s a well rounded menu for all three meals.
The service is good, the staff is friendly and they’re also dog friendly.
